@PhilMH That's what I thought you meant in your 2017 post. The mod edit confused me because the EMI issue are in the lead. However, the event log shows that the earlier issue was added after that.
I'll shuffle them now.
@annaloog You are absolutely correct. My bad.

The one with the EKS matrices is the earlier ....
FWIW, the 'EKS 75049' no. is a reference to the US release no., not a matrix no.

P.S. later pressings after Elektra returned to WEA for distribution in late 1975/early 1976 have the Warner Communications text and logo at the label circumference, as in this example.

The one with the EKS matrices is the earlier, as it doesn't have "EMI RECORDS LTD." on the label circumference; the back cover for the earlier issue shows "DISTRIBUTED BY WEA RECORDS LTD" (image 1353536); images 863864-863866 are for the October 1973 or later EMI issue.

Which pressing is the earlier? Labels with or without the EKS matrices below the catalogue numbers?

Brilliant section with Klaus Voorman on the "classic albums" production covering this, recently aired on BBC4. He demonstrates and explains the "thrum" that he played in the intro to "You're So Vain". It's instantly recognisable, but I'd never imagined it to be bass guitar,

Cover and labels ((images 863864-863866) show EMI Records Ltd., so this is an October 1973 or later repress; see Billboard of September 29, 1973 for the explanation of Elektra's transfer from WEA to EMI in the UK.

Mod Edit: Fixed.

Wasn't expecting too much of this album... but it's brilliant.

Other than You're So Vain, not familiar with these songs, but they are all superb... will be listening to this a lot I think!
