In his liner notes for The Classics Chronological Series #616, Anatol Schenker describes the recording of this medley. He states that Takes 2 and 3 were not different performances, but were recorded from two separate microphones and used to cut two separate discs. These captured the music from slightly different angles. When the two recordings are played simultaneously, the result is a "stereo" effect. Since these recordings were made in February 1932, they represent one of the earliest examples of stereo recordings.
