Notes

The Tremeloes is a rock group that was formed in Dagenham, England in 1958 by Brian Poole. When this group became professional a few years later, the Decca Record Company of the UK had auditioned both this group and the Beatles the 1 January 1962. Accordingly, Decca chose the Tremeloes band simply because Decca liked this band’s mixed style of Chuck Berry guitar playing, doo wop, skiffle and rhythm and blues music, which is called “beat” music.

This group was originally a quintet which consisted of Brian Poole, the lead vocalist, Richard Westwood, professionally called Rick West, the lead guitarist, Alan Blakely, the rhythm guitarist and keyboardist, Alan Howard, the bassist and Dave Munden, the drummer. When Brian Poole had departed from the Tremeloes in 1966 to pursue a solo recording career, this group became a quartet, and later that year, Leonard “Chip” Hawkes had replaced Alan Howard.

This new group lineup, which was still under contract to Decca records had one disc of 45 rpm known as Blessed, which was penned and originally recorded by Paul Simon. Though this song was not prosperous, it had received some radio airplay.

Later, this group had departed from Decca and went to CBS Record Company, which was known as Columbia Records in the United States. This band had four successful discs of 45 rpm, which were Here Comes My Baby, Silence Is Golden, Even The Bad Times Are Good, and Suddenly You Love Me, which is the title of this disc of 33.33 rpm. Even though this disc did not sell to the level that the “Here Comes My Baby” and “Keep On Comin’” had sold, this LP has become highly collectible.

Finally, this was the final disc of 33.33 rpm of the Tremeloes that was both monaurally and stereophonically in the United States and Canada.
