ReviewSignature harmonies, the ‘70s rock scene, and Americana themes combine for a solid nine-song offering with virtually no assistance from Brian, thanks in part to the new addition of singer-guitarist Blondie Chapin and multi-instrumentalist Ricky Fataar. Frankly, long-time group members Carl Wilson (‘The Trader’) and Mike Love (‘California Saga’) have rarely been better. Highlights: “Sail on Sailor” “California Saga (Big Sur/Beaks of Eagles/California),” and “The Trader”
Agreed on Canadian versions; NONE of them have WGL on the vinyls, only on the sleeves.
There were USA test pressings which came with WGL, tho later versions have SOS. instead, just as with the regular versions.
I've never found a We got Love on vinyl in Canada, just the title on the album cover. So far I haven't heard any BB collector who has one from Canada on vinyl.
Apparently, when the submitted album was originally rejected by the record company for not having an obvious hit single, We Got Love was removed and the band went away and came back with Sail On Sailor instead!
Copies were released briefly in Germany and Canada (and a test pressing in the Uk) with the otherwise unreleased We Got Love included. I think this may also explain a blank area on the lyric sheet insert. Lets hope copies turn up on this site. Anyone know the full story on this?
THE MAKING OF HOLLAND BOOKLET was released with a limited number of promo copies and sent to radio stations.
Although a majority of the Fairy tale Sleeves were scotch taped. there were some put inside the album jacket. i have one with no tape and in '77 i used to go to a Peaches store in Denver and i would shake the Holland lp and feel and hear the EP inside the jacket. I bought a promo copy sealed with the EP not taped to the cover. It was easier for the manufacturer to tape the EP sleeve to the jacket so they could shrinkwrap it easier with the EP stationary.
