Frank M. Young 24th Mar 2024		I found a nice-playing mono copy of the UK issue of this album (United Artists 1566) for 20 cents at my friendly neighborhood record store. Sounds great-same generous track listing as the US version.

Bill_C 20th Jul 2018		Thanks, Jake. I think I have made a big mistake and purchased a DES version (Digitally Extracted Stereo). This is a bit like what Eric Records have been doing, even though mine is not from Eric Records. It is also very heavily compressed to give a perceived loudness which is fatiguing to the ear. In the late 1970s, Gusto Records Inc. purchased the complete Musicor catalogue of grand master tapes. I've listened to all their albums with Town Without Pity, and not one is stereo. But the sound is far better.



Jake Leither 12th Jul 2018		Sylvester_C, I have the stereo LP, the entire LP is in fake stereo. It’s just the mono version with the frequencies tampered with and balance off.

Link to Town Without Pity - Stereo The piano is in the left channel, drums are on the right. The backup singers appear on the left also. Is it exactly the same as the LP? Neil Forbes 17th May 2015		Actually it was a solo hit for Col Joye, but you are right about Town Without Pity, Goodiesguy. To my knowledge, there never was a stereo mix of this song, and they used the same backing track when Pitney recorded a German song called *"Bleibe Bei Mir"*, which was supposed to be a German version of Town Without Pity but the German lyrics virtually make for a wholly different song than the English er... version(/). "Bleibe Bei Mir" translates in English as "Stay By Me".



goodiesguy 17th May 2015		Is this True or Fake Stereo? Town Without Pity has always been a Mono only track. Today's Teardrops was a hit downunder for Col Joye & The Joy Boys.
