Notes

Georges Brassens was a singer, composer and poet who wrote and sang more than one hundred poems and texts of other poets, such as Louis Aragon, Victor Hugo and Paul Verlaine. Mr. Brassens, who had friends that had urged him to perform at a night club or cabaret, was so shy that he feared performing in front of people. However, a female singer named Henriette “Patachou” Ragon liked his performance such a great deal that she helped Mr. Brassens overcome his fear of public audiences. Accordingly, Mr. Brassens had fearlessly and prosperously played several times at the Paris Olympia and at the Bobino music hall theatre.

Although Mr. Brassens had composed every tune of this disc of 33.33 rpm, the Ray Ventura band actually plays these strumental tunes in a jazzy big-band style.
This was the final disc of 33.33 rpm of the Atlantic Popular Series (the 8000 catalog ID #s) that was originally issued without the spiral fan logo. Furthermore, of the Atlantic Jazz Series (the 1200 catalog ID #s), the final disc of 33.33 rpm that was originally issued without the spiral fan logo was the “Plenty, Plenty Soul” of Milt Jackson (Atlantic 1269).

The self-titled “Mac-Kac And His French Rock And Roll” which was issued by means of (Atlantic 8012) was the first disc of 33.33 rpm of the Atlantic Popular Series (the 8000 catalog ID #s) that was originally issued with the spiral fan logo by means of only the front jacket.
