Hi I have a copy of this LP cat number PMC 7174 it is in a card folded over cover... not glued on any edge and a plain white label... Can't find a reference to it anywhere.
Hi Trester, I think you've got the original issue of this compilation, from August 1978, the meaning of the 7808 on your back cover. The issue shown here is a reissue from March 1981, you can just make out the "8103" in the bottom-right of the back cover, and the 1984 MUSIC MASTER corroborates this date.
Can anyone help me out? My copy of this LP ("Made in Great Britain") has got the same sleeve as shown above, but the label is obviously different. It is a black EMI Parlophone label with the catalogue number PMC 7174. The entry in the bottom right hand corner on the back of the sleeve seems to differ. On my copy it reads: "7808 TM Garrods & Lofthouse Ltd". Again: Can anyone help me out?
Is this a first pressing? I remember reading a story of how they put the LP sleeve together. They managed to find 6 out from 7 of the original EP sleeves and put out an appeal over a local radio station to see if they could get the seventh from one of the listeners. They couldn't, so they faked the 7th, and when the LP came out, claimed no one noticed that one sleeve was faked. However, they all look genuine to me
