I have a first-issue copy of this on the A. & M.-distributed Ode label. The original year of issue was 1971, as W.B.lbl has already stated.

Interesting point. Back in late 1966 when Scott McKenzie recorded "San Francisco(Be Sure To Wear Flowers In Your Hair)" for Lou Adler's Ode label, Adler had it with CBS, by 1970, he'd taken his label to old mate, Herb Alpert and his partner, Jerry Moss, who then distributed the label under the umbrella of A. & M. Inc. Meanwhile, Adler's other enterprise, Dunhill Records, was under ABC distribution. I don't know exactly how long Ode remained with A. & M., but by 1977, it seems Ode was back where it started(of sorts), so the wheel had turned full circle, as it were.

shouldn't this label be Epic/Ode rather than Ode? Just wondering.

The Epic/Ode variation of this LP would have dated to 1977. 1971 was when the original, A&M-distributed variant first came out.
