As I understand it, all the markings are present on the pressing plate. The tax code numbers are on the plate too, but located centrally, so that they will eventually be formed in the vinyl with the label over the top.
If that's correct, then these would presumably be UK pressing plates rather than the press itself being UK. That's why I think the matrix numbers might reveal all - if they are UK as well, it must be the UK pressing plate in use.
I read somewhere that england shipped out a load of old 78 pressing machinery to india, could this be a case of an old english pressing machine being used in India, hence UK codes stamped on them?
Isn't the tax code pressed on the vinyl itself? I thought it was, and if so, this could be a UK pressing with a different label for the Indian market? Would the matrix number shed light on that?
The pressing appears to be from India, by the look of the outer rim on the label. It could be that a set of Parlophone label blanks from the U.K. were used at their printworks, as the would have the tax code already impressed on the label.
It is a KT tax code, added image twisted around and close up, even if you click
on the Side 2 image you can see the KT in the larger image,
not sure if you realised that clicking on an image will enlarge it.
It is hard to see in these images but either side of the central hole is embossed letters 'KT'. It's hard to get them to show up in scans you really need to hold the disc at an angle.
i've just uploaded an emboss effect image (mods feel free to delete later) which shows the tax code much easier than original images do
