Seems my copy is a bit of an odd one with the word stereo in black lettering. They apparently go for big bucks but I'm quite surprised as I would have bought it in the mid to late 70's new in Australia. Must have been old stock or imported from somewhere that had a lot of old stock. I bought it from a punk import shop where there were no pipes, papers, hippies or incense to be found - just discarded fits in a sink in the corner and the owner nodding off on the counter. Kinda cool in a different way DeweyGill.
Added copy with hype sticker.
I’m fascinated with period price stickers, this one is from 1812 Overture, a Milwaukee based local chain which sold Lp’s at a reasonable price along with head shop accessories- pipes, papers, incense, posters, underground comics etc. Your typical early ‘70’s hippie hangout. Spent lots of time and money there
Up"loaded" the RI label variant. It was designated a promo by stickers on the front but I've seen white labels before so I wouldn't identify mine as one.
Loaded with hits apparently but Lou was already on his way to an equally successful solo career and didn't even hang around to mix the album. Kinda cheesy for the Velvets but Loaded has a charm of it's own - it's not the Velvets of old but it's still got a lot to offer.
