My copy, bought soon after release, is the same as this, except that mine never had the sticker on the cover. Go-Set must have been sitting on that paragraph for a bit if they thought that November 27th was only a week after November 8th, but Australian Chart Book does confirm that the album entered the chart on November 15th, though it doesn't say at which position. Interesting that in my first Platterlog catalogue in 1988, this had already been reissued in Festival's mid-price series and bore completely new catalogue number L 19066, yet TEA FOR THE TILLERMAN was still under its almost-original number of L 34,028, so obviously it was a better-seller at full price over the years, though it originally only peaked at #2 whereas this one went to #1; total weeks in chart for this was 69, compared to TFTT's 96. Anyway, I should imagine that there will be the same variety of labels and numbers.
Yup, strap in for an uphill swim against the tide. Great record though and good job on the scans your copy looks immaculate Jasper. Added linked releases.
O.K let's see where this one takes us. Will upload inner gate fold and gold label images later. I don't want to squash it in the scanner folded out.
Snippet from Go-Set magazine 27/11/1971 - Another album of interest is Cat Stevens, "Teaser And The Firecat" album, which Festival released on November the 8th. The album, according to Festival, earned a gold record prior to release, through advance orders placed from all States, and this week went into the No. 7 spot on the album charts, only one week after release.
