Notes

NIPPON GRAMMOPHON release
MGM label - "SMM 2000" Series

The above album was issued in the MGM SMM range, but took the form of a "special" release, being assigned a "2000" series number.

This album is a "deluxe" re-titled version of USA MGM SE 3853 CONNIE FRANCIS SINGS SPANISH & LATIN AMERICAN FAVORITES, and is supplied in a gatefold sleeve featuring unique full cover "live on stage" action pose of Connie Francis. Album front and spine list catalog number as MGM MM 2003, while labels state SMM 2003. The set features a "bonus" selection in LA PALOMA [Neapolitan version]. Clearly, the intent had been to include TU AMOR, the Spanish version. The original 13-track package of SPANISH & LATIN AMERICAN FAVORITES was formerly issued by Nippon Columbia on:

- MGM SL 5022 mono in December 1960
- MGM YS 5004 stereo in March 1961

It was subsequently reissued in new picture sleeve by Nippon Grammophon on MGM SMM 1025 in April 1963.

MGM SMM 2003 should not be confused with the Nippon Grammophon cassette release MGM CM 1004 CONNIE FRANCIS SINGS LATIN. The MC has only 12 selections and an insert liner featuring different picture to that of the above album sleeve.

This album was released with three labels:

- blue/white promo label [scanned herewith]
- black/multi label [scanned herewith]
- blue/gold label [unavailable at this point]

Additionally, a lyric sheet was provided within the gatefold sleeve. However, it could not be scanned without the potential of compromising the integrity of the sleeve.

Some labels issued show SMM 2003 while still others show MM 2003.
