Dr. Doom, best way to describe it may be a demented Jim Morrison and Doors sound. With that said, if you like The Doors, you'd probably enjoy this. In fact, while doing a little sleuthing on line I found some writing from the keyboardist that played with Phantom (named Russ Klatt) who stated that the lead singer/guitarist for the group, named Ted Pearson, had actually went to L.A. and jammed with Ray Manzarek and Robby Krieger after Morrison's death. The band was from the Detroit, Michigan area and were previously known as Walpurgis and were apparently pretty popular in the midwest. Finally a quote from Discogs "The musical instrumentation, mystical themes, and vocalist's penchant for Jim Morrison-esque vocal stylings on the album led some listeners to spread wild rumors that this was a new project from the deceased Doors bandleader."

I found the writings from Russ Klatt here: http://www.rootsvinylguide.com/ebay_items/rare-the-phantom-phantom-s-divine-comedy-orig-capitol-st-11313-psych-doors-lpex.

Looks mad. Is it as good as it looks?

The front cover of this album includes "part 1", which is not included on the labels themselves. As far as I have been able to ascertain, there was no part 2 ever released. In fact, the only other release by Phantom appears to have been The Lost Album which contained music recorded by the group before 1974.
