I suspect that 1979 single would be this one, which is sometimes credited to "Pulp" but is not connected with "the" Pulp.
However it looks like I have been misinformed anyway, as long as you count their earlier tape. And yes the Vets track is indeed on this single from 1980.
Pulp had a Peel session 18/11/81, prior to which Jarvis had given Mr Peel a copy of a cassette of songs.
Though the front cover has a sticker stating "20 tracks...recorded specifically for this album" I don't think that is technically true, as I'm sure the Vets track is the one on the shared single. I'm looking at my copy right now and have a vague idea that there may have been a promo insert with the LP either lost or is in my brother's copy of the LP which gave more detailed info as to where the tracks actually came from.
The title of the Pulp track isn't listed in the Peel session so I'm assuming that it comes from elsewhere, maybe the cassette or another compilation.
Checking in International Discography of the New Wave I see that there is a Pulp (with female vocalist) that released a single in 1979, I don't know if there is a connection though.
