ReviewIt’s no coincidence that the last album focused on beach culture was the first to exhibit Wilson’s sophisticated songwriting as the band ditched the traditional four-piece set-up and expanded the instrumentation to include organs and xylophones. All Summer Long is the last great album of The Beach Boys’ first phase, showing a balance of naïve optimism and dynamic evolution. Highlights: “All Summer Long,” “We’ll Run Away,” and “I Get Around”
There was to have been an EP of material from this album, Four By The Beach Boys, to be issued as EAP-1-2110, with tracks B1 and B6 on Side 1 and A4 and A3 on Side 2. The record in question was ultimately issued as 4-By The Beach Boys on R-5267. The originally intended numbers are evident on some pressings with "F1-2110" and "F2-2110" stamped or written on the deadwax - and efforts to cover up same with "R1-5267" and "R2-5267."
