One bit of information worth noting: Track 11, which features an uncredited impressionist intoning various Fonzie catchphases, plays over the instrumental version of the theme song, which I don't think had otherwise been released previously. The vocal version had been a single (odd they didn't credit the performers on this album), but I don't think the instrumental had yet been released.

I remember buying this hoping it would include Bill Haley's specially-recorded version of Rock Around the Clock from the show (he re-recorded it and about 2 or 3 other songs from his Decca era for the TV show in 1973). They just used the original 1954 recording which, to be fair, was used for the syndicated "Happy Days Again" opening of the show in lieu of the re-recorded track.

Yeah, I think it's the Pratt & McClain & Brother Love version which was issued on single(45rpm) on the Reprise label.

I'd have to print this page out to compare the list, but in quick scrolling, I note there are a few differences in the content.

RC, the old Gas Works would've been down near the western end of town, somewhere(guessing) around Steel Street. If you visited Newcastle today, guaranteed you wouldn't know the place. Around Steel Street is a huge shopping complex called Market Town. And the Hunter Street Mall now allows cars through it, albeit at 10Km/H(a slow crawl, snails overtake you, ha-ha).

RC's comment: "Trivia I actually bought the album in Newcastle NSW Australia" - Aah, RC, I see you were in my "neck of the woods"! I lived at Stockton(Newcastle's oldest suburb) until moving to Port Stephens in June 2001.

Bill Haley & His Comets' "Rock Around The Clock" served as the opening theme for the first series only. Subsequent series of the show had the Pratt & McClain with Brother Love version at both opening and closing credit sequences.

Track A1, although not mentioned, was the later version of theme and recorded by
Pratt & McClain with Brotherlove. That version was used at the start of the show and throughout most of the series' run. The lyrics were rewritten from the original 1974 Pratt & McClain version, which only was used during the end credits, as Bill Haley & His Comets' Rock Around The Clock, was the original opening theme.
