Reviewa roll call of the singles that established the rolling stones as ''probably the finest rock'n'roll group° in the world'' - and not only could these singles fill the dance floor at any disco or party, it was more than the dj's life was worth if he (''girl'' djs were about as common as hens' teeth) tried getting through an evening (or night) without playing just about all of their up-tempo a-sides...
- and they are still thundering fine singles, very nearly all of them.
- a couple of the tracks are less impressive, but for most of maybe four years, the stones were only just this side of ''untouchable'':
- very, very few bands have anything like so fine a track record.
(° - we didn't call them ''bands'' back then - that started in the seventies & eighties)
- but watch out! - not all of the tracks on the stereo lp are the original recordings - some needed to be re-recorded in stereo (and possibly some were freshly re-mixed down to stereo from the original recording session tapes, if they still existed):
- especially on the earlier-released tracks, through the late sixties, there are audible differences quite apart from the stereo effect, so some tracks may sound ''wrong'' to anyone familiar with the original singles.
