 Thanks for the response UFC.

TBH, I've seen this so often over the years and never bothered with it. I really bought it on the strength of the Gayletts tracks and expected it to be a bit lightweight due to the stereo mix, but I'd not actually bargained for a pretty crappy sounding album from a major company.

This is one of those Steady records compilations. They had a licensing deal to put out their material in the UK, as announced when the label was formed in late 1968. I don't own the US version of this one for some reason. These records tend to be around and get marked down due to lack of interest in shops. It is listed on "the other site".

Second copy I've had of this and both are pretty poor sounding - the one I've just played is easily Ex (clean as a whistle) but quite crackly and very 'thin' sounding on some tracks, particularly A2 and A4. I would have guessed that a company like Decca would have used master tapes from Federal but perhaps not. Either that or both my copies were played with a mono cartridge and suffered damage as a result.

Also odd that they included two versions of 'Too Experienced', which is a bit short measure. I also wonder whether anyone has seen a mono copy (LGJ 101).
