I Racconti Di Canterbury (The Canterbury Tales) (1972)
Dr Who is in this, and flashes his todger. It was a small part.

The Trip [1967] - Signal One
One of my favourite films having seen it many times both in the cinema and on video & DVD, and well worth the upgrade. The film looks amazing, probably remastered though it doesn't specifically say so, and complete (some scenes looked trimmed on previous releases such as the chase through town), the running time is listed as 80mins but I suspect it is longer here.

The Trip
The soundtrack was available on vinyl and CD, but beware that some versions are missing many tracks such as the Curb CD (which is now supplied by Amazon as a crumby CDr knock-off).

Bad Grandpa - Paramount
Paramount also produced a DVD, though I think that the "explicit & extended" version is only on the Blu-ray.
Because the distributers are a multinational corporation I would guess that the disc is actually multi-region and is the same one supplied to many countries.

Permissive - BFI
Like most of the BFI's first Blu-ray releases the 'dual format' bundle was initially only available for a limited time. I have included a picture of the back cover from the later 'Blu-ray only' issue, the special features are the same, as is the actual disc.
The Blu-ray includes a 38 page booklet.

I didn't bother scanning the new 'modern' artwork commissioned a few years back 'cos its seriously out-dated already. Arrow if you are reading this comment then please stop doing alternative artwork.

La Grande Bouffe - Arrow
The DVD will probably be in crappy NTSC format, being that it is region 1 as well as region 2.
I seem to have lost my booklet, or maybe it was not included. The sleeve does say there should be one.

The Big Knife - Arrow
Also includes a booklet. I'm not keen on those alternative artwork covers that plague UK releases on DVDs and Blu-rays, although this one is a better effort than most that I've seen.

Is there anyone who liked the alternative artwork that was substituted on T.Rex LP album covers in the 1980s? No of course not, so why do we get alternative artwork for old films? Arrow if you are reading this comment then please stop the practice!!

The Who - My Generation
The source for this pressing is rumoured to have been a dub off an original Brunswick LP.

The Who - My Generation
Excellent release, I already have the Virgin pressing from the late 1970s but when HMV were selling this at £7.99 it was an offer too good to resist.
There have been huge discussions/arguments about the merits of various reissues since 2002 when Shel Talmy's tapes came back into use. The biggest problem being that some of the tracks were missing overdubs which were heard on the original vinyl pressings.
For the UK Brunswick pressing there are additional guitar overdubs on A Legal Matter and My Generation, and additional vocal overdubs on La-La-La-Lies, Much Too Much, The Good's Gone and The Kids Are Alright. The Virgin pressing is rumoured to have been sourced by taking a dub off an original Brunswick LP, so I decided to do some analysis using Audacity.
Happily I can report that to my ears the songs sound pretty much the same as on the Virgin pressing (and hence Brunswick). This was easy to compare - since the songs on both source LPs are mono I just needed to convert the captured 2-channel audio into 1-channel, and play both sources simultaneously into separate L-R earphones. The Virgin pressing is quite loud and just a little bass heavy but from what I could hear all of the dubs seem to be present on this new pressing. The only minor difference is that sometimes the volume changes very slightly in the mix on some of tracks, but I would assume that the engineers have better equipment than in 1965 and are balancing correctly. The only radical volume fluctuation was on the last 30 seconds of The Kids Are Alright, and some hesitant tweaking on Out In The Street.
You will not notice any of these slight variances when playing the LP on your Hi-Fi system, and what you will hear is how the LP originally sounded in crisp and powerful mono.
Recommended.

Dead Kennedys - Fresh Fruit For Rotting Vegetables
According to discogs the first pressing of the LP was cut with the master tape running too fast and so it needed to be re-cut. Identifiers (Utopia/Lyntone) are:
A-Side "LYN 8664-1UT BRED-10-A", "MAX", "IS LIFE AS BORING AS YOU ARE?? Ʊ"
B-Side "LYN 8665-1UT BRED-10-B", "MAX", "DO YOU DESERVE TO LIVE?? Ʊ"

Well I just had to investigate since it happens that I have a copy of the first pressing, and also a copy of another early pressing. I recorded both sides of both pressings and used Audacity to analyse the results. And it is true! the first pressing runs about 1% faster and sounds brighter because of it, and also it is cut slightly louder than the re-cut version.

I have to say that I prefer the faster first pressing, but since I have owned it for over 40 years then I suppose I am biased to like it, being that the tunes are pretty much lodged in my brain.

The other LP version that I have was bought secondhand a couple of years ago as part of a joblot and I did recognised that it sounded different but couldn't quite figure why at the time.

Regardless of the differences in the speed/pitch, both vinyl versions sound a lot better than the 25th anniversary CD that I bought - the CD version sounds like there is a blanket draped over the speakers! And I only bought the CD because it included a DVD of interviews and rare early live footage.

Supposedly a limited pressing, though I cannot see any indication of it. The record does have all the signs of being a bootleg: the pressing plant identifiers have been scratched out, nothing to genuinely indicate clearance of copyright, and the tracks themselves have different volumes and some sound like they are dubbed off vinyl.
What caught my eye was that this is a good selection of rare tracks many of which have not appeared on compilation before, and also hard to find even on youtube.

The Kitchen And The Plastic Spoons track is relatively well known having been issued on CD and later on vinyl (which is the obvious source that the compilers used).

The Day The Earth Caught Fire (1961)
He says "I don't give a flop about what you do". I would like to presume the line was ad-libbed and maybe amended in post production. Later in the film he asks for the melting point of his glass eye, amongst other things, which I cannot imagine would have been in the original script.

Quite a good film, if you can accept the premise.
Watching the remastered Blu-ray I was amused to hear Leo McKern's line in the scene when Bill and Peter first visit Harry's Bar, just as they are leaving the Daily Express building (at the 19:48 mark), on the Blu-ray I am sure it sounds like something else.

The Tickle - Magni Fly
I am disappointed with the sound quality of side A considering that this was meant to be coming from master tapes, it sounds a bit muffled/worn out.
Rose Coloured Glasses appeared on a bootleg many years ago which means that the only unheard track is Something Out Of Place.
I may be wrong but I thought that there were 5 songs recorded in this session; must consult 117 fanzine (when I find where I put them).
