carryonsidney 11th Jan 2024 | | 12" SingleThe Billies - I Said Yeah (The 12" Version) | White labels exist with a small sticker each side detailing track details only. This is only vaguely ska related - its more of an Acid House track on the A.

carryonsidney 24th Oct 2023 | | Vinyl AlbumFats Waller - Fats At The Organ | Respect to both contributers of the images I have reassembled them into oldest first order and show them all as, the 1954 straight cut sleeve with "Jazz Archive Series" predates the curved inset 1956 sleeve with "Origins of Jazz" labels. (my Jazz archive copy has a slightly earlier date of JU. 54/4 ) - (April 1954).

carryonsidney 22nd Oct 2023 | | Live MusicMarillion @ Poole Arts Centre | ReviewUnbelievably I have just found out the support band was none other than the great The Cardiacs!? So I misrembered the gig, but undoubtedly the unusual time changes and what not certainly made an impression on the young me.

carryonsidney 13th Oct 2023 | | Vinyl AlbumVarious Artists - New Orleans Horns | Sleeves also exist for the "Origins of Jazz" with a curved type inset flip back sleeve, with "Made in England" "JU. 56 /5" printed unusually upside down. Labels are the dark green similar to Tony P's but with slight differences.

carryonsidney 24th Sep 2023 | | Live MusicRamonas @ The Old Woollen | ReviewGreat gig, I can highly recommend The Ramonas, they do an excellent spread of Ramones tunes and a section their own Ramonesque songs without ever falling into the bland "tribute band" territory.

carryonsidney 24th Jul 2023 | | Vinyl AlbumEric Burdon - The Animals Greatest Hits | ReviewThis looks like a straightforward cheapo compilation of Animals tunes, however it turns out to be a strange collection of rerecorded tracks by Eric B, circa early 1980's? There is no information on the sleeve whatsoever.

|
carryonsidney 21st Jul 2023 | | Vinyl AlbumMagna Carta - Seasons | Just a note: on my first press, the inner sleeve is a poly lined die cut with the vertigo spiral printed on both sides. Also although the tracks on the A side are listed individually on the labels there is no separation of bands on the disc itself, (A side) its just one continuous track.

carryonsidney 12th Jul 2023 | | Vinyl AlbumAlexandra Hope - Invisible Sunday | ReviewA really excellent album, if you like talented female vocalists & indiepop you should hunt down this record. As far as I can find out Alexandra made this one record and then vanished completely? Practically all the copies of this for sell online are a] really cheap b] mint condition unsold stock. Well worth tracking down.

carryonsidney 18th Jun 2023 | | 78 RPMOlive Goff - Phyllis Has Such Charming Graces / In Quelle Trine Morbide | I agree with the Arr. Jane Wilson. I have tidied up this entry. Having listened carefully to the record YT I think we can be sure it is the same woman doing the singing on both sides. Since she being accompanied by piano I surmise Irene is playing it, as she has a few results come on the interweb as being a professional accompanist?

carryonsidney 8th May 2023 | | 78 RPMVarious Artists - [None] / [None] | There are 5 flexis, they are totally transparent. Around the inner edge of the run off they are stamped with "Rainbow" followed by the artistes name in caps. These are possibly the thinnest ever flexies I have ever seen, I am amazed they play at 78 as they are cut like a microgroove 45.
There's only a couple mins playing time on each.
