confranfan SUBS 25th May 2017 | | Vinyl AlbumConnie Francis - In The Summer Of His Years | The title track of the above collection is a British composition with music by Dave Lee and lyrics by Herbert Kretzmer. It was written for the BBC Television show "That Was The Week That Was" following the assassination of President John Fitzgerald Kennedy in November 1963.
Connie's version of the title track was recorded within days of the broadcast on the BBC and issued on the single MGM K 13203 backed with MY BUDDY. All proceeds from that single were donated to the J. D. Tippit Benefit Fund, to aid dependents of the policeman shot in the tragedy.
Proceeds from the sale of the LP showcased here went to the Kennedy Child Study Center.

confranfan SUBS 24th May 2017 | | Vinyl AlbumConnie Francis - Mala Femmena & Connie's Big Hits From Italy | A1: Translation EVIL WOMAN - Second recording Italian & English
A2: Translation YOUR LOVE - Neapolitan version
A3: Neapolitan version
A4: Translation A VIOLIN IN MY HEART - Neapolitan version
A5: Translation Gypsy Violin - Neapolitan version
A6: Translation JEALOUS OF YOU - English & Italian
B1: Translation WHERE THE BOYS ARE - Neapolitan version
B2: Translation TONIGHT'S MY NIGHT - Neapolitan version
B3: Translation FLY ME TO THE MOON [In Other Words] - Neapolitan version
B4: Translation DON'T BREAK THE HEART THAT LOVES YOU - Neapolitan version
B5: English & Italian
B6: Translation NO ONE IS ALONE - Neapolitan version
Neapolitan versions denote titles recorded in Neapolitan dialect, and of which were initially cut in pure, authentic Italian for local release in ITALY. MALA FEMMENA (MGM K 13160), TANGO DELLA GELOSIA (MGM K 12899) and ITALIAN LULLABY (LP MGM E/SE 4123) are all sung in English and Italian and previously released in the USA. LA PALOMA, C'E QUALCUNO, CHE BELLA NOTTE! and UN DESIDERIO FOLLE are all Neapolitan versions of the English titles as stated above. UN VIOLINO NEL MIO CUOR, VIOLINO TSIGANO, PORTAMI CON TE and NESSUNO E' SOLO were never recorded in the English language. The English language titles listed above for these (FLY ME TO THE MOON being the only exception) are literal translations.
MALA FEMMENA was first recorded on September 28th, 1962 but not released. The version herewith was recorded on February 25th, 1963. CHE BELLE NOTTE! is the only track above to have been recorded in pure Italian originally but not released. Original Italian singles releases lists titles as VIOLINO TZIGANO - not TSIGANO - (MGM K 2038), and UN VIOLINO NEL MIO CUORE - not CUOR - (MGM K 2056). It should be noted, however, that there have been subsequent anomalies and the spellings themselves do not necessarily provide a guide to Neapolitan or Italian versions. (The above information has been [for the most part] extracted from the Ron Roberts Discography of Connie's international releases issued in 1993 registered number 3944101302 copyrighted by Ron Roberts)

A3: INTRIGUE is an instrumental and does not feature any vocals by Connie Francis
A6: INTRIGUE [Dixieland version] is an instrumental recording as well.
All of the selections to this LP were recorded on September 27th & 28th, 1962. The first six were featured in the motion picture of the same title which Connie Francis also starred in. The title song recorded at the time was eventually replaced with a new take cut on January 10th, 1963. At this same recording session harmony vocals were added to:
- TONIGHTS MY NIGHT
- ITALIAN LULLABY
- IN YOUR ARMS
The January 10th, 1962 take of FOLLOW THE BOYS is commonly referred to as the LP version and appears on both the mono and stereo versions of this LP. Additionally, a third recording was made on February 4th, 1963 which is commonly referred to as the singles version. This third recording was released on international/worldwide singles. Additionally, it also appears on the LP MGM E 4167 compilation of tunes titled THE VERY BEST OF CONNIE FRANCIS CONNIE'S 15 BIGGEST HITS!
These tracks are not evident on the soundtrack to the motion picture. On June 30th, 1962 Connie Francis recorded 4 soundtrack versions of FOLLOW THE BOYS, 2 of WAITING FOR BILLY, 2 of TONIGHT'S MY NIGHT and 1 of ITALIAN LULLABY, re-recording the latter on July 6th, 1962.
In December of 1962 Connie Francis flew to England and placed on soundtrack at the MGM studio in Elstree, the versions that now are part of the motion picture FOLLOW THE BOYS.
Added cleaner scans of the front and back cover.

confranfan SUBS 14th May 2017 | | Vinyl AlbumConnie Francis - Connie Francis Sings Award Winning Motion Picture Hits | The above is the officially issued package of Academy Award winning songs that were made widely available across the globe. All the above titles, with one exception: THE DAYS OF WINE AND ROSES, have the original April 1962 vocals. To these vocals, new overdubbed backings were added. THE DAYS OF WINE AND ROSES, a clear front runner for the 1962 BEST SONG OF THE YEAR AWARD was recorded on March 22, 1963 and added to this set shortly after it won the best song award at the April 8, 1963 Oscar ceremony.
The revised album was released later in that same month and assigned the same MGM E/SE catalog number. This number was originally assigned for a scheduled Connie Francis LP titled; CONNIE FRANCIS SINGS "MOON RIVER" AND OTHER ACADEMY AWARD WINNERS in 1962 which never saw the light of day.
Artwork covers had already been prepared prior to the Oscar win and initial copies were shipped out with a defacing blue and white sticker with the proclamation: EXTRA ADDED ATTRACTION DAYS OF WINE AND ROSES E/SE 4048" ". A close-up scan of this sticker has been provided here.
Also worthy of mention is that song selection A6: OVER THE RAINBOW appearing on this collection is an abridged version of the original 1962 vocal with overdubbed accompaniment.

confranfan SUBS 14th May 2017 | | Vinyl AlbumConnie Francis - Dance Party! | As the then "new dance craze" of the TWIST continued in marathon popularity, the DO THE TWIST LP was repackaged and given the new title of DANCE PARTY as evidenced by the cover scans herewith.
It was felt that, in so doing, the LP would gain a longer and more lasting appreciation for the record buyer. It should be noted, however, that the repackaged selection kept the same original catalog number of E/SE 4022 with identical compilations on both mono and stereo editions.

An explanation as to why there were two editions issued can be found below.
First editions of MGM SE 3942 featured TEDDY, the million selling hit flip-side to the gold disc winner MAMA ( see MGM K 12878). A publishing disagreement over TEDDY resulted in a disassociation between the artist and further promotion of the track which, in later pressings, was replaced with VALENTINO.
Again, both reverse covers showing the two variations in song compilation coupled with label scans of both Side 2's have been provided.
Mod Edit: both albums containing alternate tracklistings have now been separated into 2 entries.
