DeweyGill SUBS 15th Apr 2024 | | 78 RPMLew White - Silent Night / Hark! The Herald Angels Sing | Thanks and good eye. I didn’t notice the label difference. I’ll add appropriate full images tomorrow.

DeweyGill SUBS 14th Apr 2024 | | 78 RPMLew White - Silent Night / Hark! The Herald Angels Sing | Also issued in a festive red paper envelope. Might be the original packaging. Few survived, I’m guessing. Records housed in these sleeves inside envelope

DeweyGill SUBS 9th Apr 2024 | | Vinyl AlbumThe Viscounts - Harlem Nocturne | One track added- “Opus 1”. This was not on the Madison LP. “Sophisticated Lady” substitutes “Night Train” on side two which is omitted on this release.
My copy is stereo, it uses the mono cover with a large “stereo“ sticker attached to the front cover.

DeweyGill SUBS 14th Nov 2023 | | Vinyl AlbumVarious Artists - 45 Rockin' Rollers | One has to wonder the origins of this comp and the licensing of these songs. My copy is on flimsy ‘70’s vinyl and for the most part sounds muffled and reprocessed. The odd duck here is the inclusion of the Turtles cut, probably included after White Whale Records folded in 1971. I thought Flo and Eddie had ownership of their material. Since the original Vee Jay was dissolved in 1966, this must be the Vee Jay International years

DeweyGill SUBS 27th Oct 2023 | | Vinyl AlbumThe Rolling Stones - Hackney Diamonds | For a band of this caliber, it has always puzzled me by the lack of quality album art on most of their releases.
|
DeweyGill SUBS 27th Oct 2023 | | Vinyl AlbumThe Rolling Stones - Hackney Diamonds | Added missing images. Although a printed inner sleeve is included, the disc is instead housed in a black poly lined sleeve. This is a gatefold, I’ll leave it to someone else to peel their shrink wrap.

DeweyGill SUBS 6th Oct 2023 | | Vinyl AlbumThe Cornells - Beach Bound | A couple of cover misprints:
*The u in ”Agua” doesn’t make a complete loop, so it looks like a “j”
* Russ Regan misspelled side 1, track 6
All but one of the members are sons of Hollywood celebrities, the most well known probably the son of Art Linkletter, Bob Linkletter.
Bob has been mired in controversy since his 1980 death in a car accident, including accusations that he was the Zodiac killer, had a hand in the Manson murders and involved somehow in the school bus abduction in 1976.(The Zodiac killer had threatened do do such a thing in one of his cryptic letters)
One former female companion claimed he admitted to murders starting in 1966, and he wouldn’t be investigated because of hid Dad’s celebrity status.. The abduction of children though, if there’s any credibility there would have been the ultimate punch to the gut to his dad who hosted shows involving kids for decades. Bad enough his daughter Diane jumped (or was pushed) out of her 6th story apartment window in 1969.
Again, these were allegations, some would consider these conspiracy theories.
Peter Lewis would later be in Moby Grape

Sounds like Victor Young’s band, a nice muted Tp (Bunny?) behind her on the top side
|
DeweyGill SUBS 10th Sep 2023 | | 78 RPMGlen Gray And The Casa Loma Orchestra - Avalon / China Girl | Avalon recorded August 16, 1934
China Girl appears to be a repress of the 1930 Okeh recording

DeweyGill SUBS 16th Jul 2023 | | 78 RPMChet Mauthe And His Kentucky Aces - Picnic In The Woods / Kernel Korn | Andrew “Chet” Mauthe
B: October 12, 1906. Kimberly, Wi.
D: March 17, 1992. Appleton, Wi.
In the matrix numbers, I’m wondering if 220 is a client code. It much resembles a King pressing

DeweyGill SUBS 30th Jun 2023 | | Vinyl AlbumTex Williams - Country Music Time | Compilation of his mid to late ’50s Decca singles. Some of his best stuff, in my opinion. This version of “Air Mail Special” is top shelf Western Swing.
|
DeweyGill SUBS 21st Jun 2023 | | Vinyl AlbumLooking Glass - Looking Glass | Hype sticker added
|
DeweyGill SUBS 27th May 2023 | | Vinyl AlbumThe Surfaris - Wipe Out And Surfer Joe | The “uncredited studio musicians” are reportedly the Challengers who Richard Delvy likely provided to Dot. Delvy owned Princess records which had issued the “Wipe Out” single before making the deal with Dot. “Surfer Joe”was the original Princess A side, but when “Wipe Out” got traction Dot made it the A side. “Surfer Joe” in turn started getting airplay as well once the Dot single took off, probably resulting in the change of the album cover design. I’m thinking the cover with the smaller print might be earlier, with the hype sticker added to existing cover before the design change.

DeweyGill SUBS 26th May 2023 | | 78 RPMThe Trio’clox Featuring Joe Parker - I'm Afraid Of The Dark / Smoke A Cigarette And Relax | Release date may actually be very early 1953
|
DeweyGill SUBS 24th May 2023 | | Vinyl AlbumPeter And Gordon - Woman | Added contest sticker attached to mono copy. Looks like a ‘66 roadster
|
DeweyGill SUBS 23rd May 2023 | | 78 RPMThe Trio’clox Featuring Joe Parker - I'm Afraid Of The Dark / Smoke A Cigarette And Relax | Label ink is a bit more blueish than the image transfer.
Trio’clox appears to be a Chicago based nightclub outfit, at least they were working that city in the late 1940’s.
Trio is an electric guitar, accordion, bass, and on the “Smoke” side Latin/Caribbean percussion added. Jazzy enough, with some decent guitar work. Both are vocals, presumably by Joe Parker with chorus assist on the flip.

|
DeweyGill SUBS 21st Apr 2023 | | 78 RPMDuke Ellington - Wang Wang Blues / Home Again Blues | Should this not be listed with the other Decatur record club releases? Most releases are represses, I’m not sure what clearance or permission this “club” had from the original labels, but it seems they should all have the same designation.
