Fokeman 2nd Jul 2022 | | Vinyl AlbumThe Wicked Lady - Psychotic Overkill | On both albums by "The Wicked Lady" with the logo in Copperplate font "Wicked Lady", it states at the bottom of the label "All tracks written by The Wicked Lady" so either we agree that it's "Wicked Lady" or it's "The Wicked Lady" but there's no point in having one of them one thing and the other record with a different name.

Fokeman 26th Jun 2022 | | Vinyl AlbumGuy Carawan And Peggy Seeger - We Sing America | It's odd that the track "Ain't No Mo Cane On Dis Brazos" was credited to Alan Lomax and Huddie Leadbetter. I don't think anyone else credited it to them and even Guy Carawan called it Traditional with an arrangement by Lomax. It was collected as a prison work song but even though Leadbelly was in prison for a time, I don't think we can assume it was his work.

Fokeman 26th Jun 2022 | | Vinyl AlbumMurray Head - How Many Ways | It would be possible to make an augmented Fairport Convention from this album with Richard Thompson, Simon Nicol, Dave Pegg, Dave Mattacks and guest performance by Jeff Beck and string arrangements by Robert Kirby. What a prospect!
Fokeman 20th Jun 2022 | | Vinyl AlbumCosmotheka - A Little Bit Off The Top | This is an oddity. The previous number - 6001 was the 7" issued by Dave Cartwright in 1965. This is the end of the 6000 series and the next series is the 7000 series, by far the most successful. What is doubly odd, is that having issued this as part of the 6000 series, Highway promptly issued it as part of the 7000 series too...
Fokeman 19th Jun 2022 | | Vinyl AlbumEwan MacColl And Peggy Seeger - The Long Harvest Record 7 | I believe that for this series DA was the Mono version and ZDA was the Stereo version - see notes for (Z)DA to demonstrate this since the same notes would be used for both versions.
Fokeman 18th Jun 2022 | | Vinyl AlbumJimmy Shand And His Band - A Jimmy Shand Selection | My guess is that the plain red came first. In the history of the singles, the plain blue came before the tartan pattern and the crest matches the earlier singles labels.
Fokeman 18th Jun 2022 | | Vinyl AlbumJulie Driscoll, Brian Auger And The Trinity - The Best Of Julie Driscoll, Brian Auger And The Trinity | I'm trying to spot the difference between the B side and the B side variant. Can anyone help me?
Apart from the obvious difference in colour which probably is just a function of different light or treatment...
Fokeman 3rd Jun 2022 | | Vinyl AlbumVarious Artists - Marmalade 100° Proof | The Promo cover rotates in the same way as the Open LP with both sides having a right side entrance, it therefore being impossible to say which is the front cover and which is the back.
The same trick was carried out on the front/rear of Minstrel in the Gallery by Jethro Tull.
Fokeman 30th May 2022 | | Vinyl AlbumArchie MacTaggart - Ciamar A Tha Sibh | I don't think this says that the record is from 1966 as it seems that it is saying that 1966 is a long way in the past when he won the National Mod Gold Medal prize.
Fokeman 27th May 2022 | | BookFrank Purslow - Marrow Bones | It's for that reason that people tend to lump them together as "Traditional Songs & Ballads of The British Isles" or "English, Irish & Scottish Ballads" as did Frances James Child.
Fokeman 22nd May 2022 | | CD AlbumRush - Time Stand Still : The Collection | By-Tor lasts forever on this disc. Great compilation!
Fokeman 21st May 2022 | | Vinyl AlbumThe Rolling Stones - Goats Head Soup | Note to self. Some of these photos can be improved...
Fokeman 21st May 2022 | | Vinyl AlbumThe Rolling Stones - Sticky Fingers | My copy of this has the Y price code dating it to about 1974 when the price was 36,5 francs. On my cover the Y is in a circle probably making it a little later than the date of the sleeve shown, which has the Y price code without the circle.
Fokeman 20th May 2022 | | Vinyl AlbumOttilie Patterson - Spring Song | Photo used is from the same photo-shoot but not the same photo. In this one she looks straight at the camera whereas on 3,000 years with Ottilie, she looks down in front of her.
Fokeman 16th May 2022 | | Vinyl AlbumAnn Mulqueen - Kerry's 25th | My copy is extremely flimsy vinyl with such a light feel it's like the RCA flex vinyls of the 1980s
Fokeman 8th May 2022 | | Vinyl AlbumLeadbelly - Take This Hammer Leadbelly Legacy Number One | Previous catalogue number was FP 4 which coincides with the 1950 date. This is probably 1953 as given.

Fokeman 8th May 2022 | | 78 RPMBuster Larsen - På Bustur Med Buster (Ej -Sikkelikkelej) / Du Skal Aldrig Kysse Andre | [YouTube Video]
Fokeman 8th May 2022 | | Vinyl AlbumBrian Auger, Julie Driscoll And The Trinity - Open | The orange Auge side is clearly the back of the cover in this instance because of the construction of the sleeve.
Fokeman 6th May 2022 | | Vinyl AlbumWill Holt - A Will Holt Concert | This was the standard edition LP. Most contemporary Stinson LPs were pressed on Red Vinyl. There was a large supply of red plastic available at the time and it must have been cheap. What we see here is the red supply being mixed whether by accident or design (I suspect the former) with the standard black vinyl. It was neither a special edition nor deliberately marbleised.
Fokeman 6th May 2022 | | Vinyl AlbumVarious Artists - Kerrville Folk Festival: Live 1974 | Public Domain is not a composer but a Publishing statement that says that dues are not payable. Public Domain is not relevant to the Composer field. [Mod: correct!]
Fokeman 6th May 2022 | | Vinyl AlbumU2 - In Concert | This looks like a bootleg to me. All BBC Transcription Service Records had green ink labels and only the centre information in black ink. I've seen other bootleg records using the same images but exclusively black ink like this one.
The information on the sleeve should be printed in green ink too.
For comparison compare the Marillion bootleg in black ink. There is also a Whitesnake bootleg and others.

Fokeman 30th Apr 2022 | | Vinyl AlbumVarious Artists - El Pea | Could you check which track actually plays on D2. I suspect that it is the same as on the German issue and although it says "One Of These Things First" on both sleeve and label, the track plays "Northern Sky" the same as on the UK issue.
Fokeman 29th Apr 2022 | | Vinyl AlbumVarious Artists - El Pea |
Quote:
Just noticed that this issue has John And Beverly Martyn "Auntie Aviator" in place of Heads Hands And Feet "Song For Suzie" on the UK release.
The German issue is the same, as far as tracks go, as the Netherlands version.

Fokeman 28th Apr 2022 | | Vinyl AlbumConnie Francis - Connie Francis Sings | It's true. That's a very fine leather wallet! ;-)
Fokeman 25th Apr 2022 | | 78 RPMPaddy Ryan - The Man That Waters The Workers' Beer / The Internationale | The record cannot date from before 1939 since this was first published only in 1939 when the music was printed by the Workers Music Association. It may have been within months that the record was issued.
The tune is traditional and was arranged by Alfred Roberts but the words are by the Unity Theatre actor, Paddy Ryan.

Fokeman 20th Apr 2022 | | Vinyl AlbumJulie Driscoll, Brian Auger And The Trinity - Streetnoise |
ppint wrote:
...the composer credit on the label should have been for josé feliciano.
Light My Fire was written by the Doors. Why composer José Feliciano? Even he credited The Doors when he performed it...
Morrison, Manzarek, Krieger, Densmore
American issue

Fokeman 10th Apr 2022 | | Vinyl AlbumDire Straits - Brothers In Arms Test Pressing | If the catalogue number is VERH-25 it's clearly on Vertigo and also a duplicate. We probably don't need a new listing for a catalogue number and record which already exists.
This is simply a one-sided test pressing which wouldn't normally leave the studio. There's another one just like this but with side two on it.
Fokeman 10th Apr 2022 | | Vinyl AlbumThe Four Bucketeers - Tiswas Presents The Four Bucketeers | Credits to John Halsey on the rear of sleeve but on the labels he's credited wrongly throughout as John Hallsey.
