VHS Box Set
Memories Of The 30s 40s 50s. The Big Band Years. The Great 48 Shows - Al Gannaway Collection
This was reissued on DVD in 2007. I don't know if they simply copied the VHS to DVD. Most likely they use the same tape master for both the VHS and DVD, so VHS faults are not carried over. I'm interested in Volumes 7,8,9 containing some Teresa Brewer.
I have posted images for volume 3, off ebay. The back cover is listing artists for the entire series.

Ronnie Dove - The Complete Original Chart Hits 1964-1969
I came across this at 7digital downloads in Canada. Hearing the mere mp3 samples I thought this was the best sounding digital transfer I've heard online. Two songs were lesser quality including When Liking Turns To Loving.
The 16-bit flac songs were $1.89 each so I only bought two and recorded my balance from my own hits LP. There is a flac and mp3 option, no m4a which I would prefer over mp3. The pricing is premium.
About his hits, Hello Pretty Girl is a great favorite. I thought Say You and Kiss Away were enchanting reminders of 1961. Seems that by 1964 and 65 with a new punk era starting they did not chart as high as his others. His strength was in redoing old style pop with strong new arrangements, like Dean Martin and Bobby Vinton.

The Old Dark House
Why does it say "El Caserón Misterioso" as English title. The field wasn't meant to be used that way.
This was first filmed in 1932 with famous personnel like James Whale and Boris Karloff, as a quirky horror mystery. This one was a project of William Castle of US, using the production services of Hammer in England. Like the first it mixes humor with the story, not very effectively. Poston comes off as an empty head.

Roy Orbison And Friends: A Black And White Night (1988)
Review
Barbara Orbison's gift to her husband to create a definitive stage performance. It collects several major musical stars to accompany Roy, although they do not do any solo performances. For example J.D. Souther recorded his "You're Only Lonely" inspired by "Only The Lonely", but he is only in the background with others as backup singers. Bruce Springsteen is in the foreground doing harmony vocals next to Roy and playing guitar. During some guitar breaks he and James Burton have an extended lead guitar duel.
With so much star power together, everyone is having a whale of a time in this dynamic show.
Barbara filmed it in black and white for the sake of the nostalgic effect. Aired on the Cinemax premium network, and released on video shortly.
In 2017 Roy's sons created an extended reedited release with many extras on disc. It is cropped to 16:9, which is fine for distant shots but loses image in closeups.

This should be under disc releases. The TV special was1988, did not have 30 in the title, and was ~55 min. It was not a TV Series either.

Kay Starr - I'm The Lonesomest Gal In Town / Share Croppin' Blues
It looks like Lonesomest Gal was written in 1912. Recorded by Ella Fitzgerald and Kay in the 1940s. Then Teresa Brewer got the idea to include it in her 1951 Snader telescriptions (TV Videos).

Review
These recordings are the "lost master" types, here issued by recording engineer Phil York in 1994. They are not limited to 1964 but progress to the 1970 area. From #15 they are the late 60s style like Jimmy Webb or Gentle On My Mind.
16 and 20 were issued under the pseudonym James Bell, and 20 charted #51 Country.
His first recordings in Dallas in 1961 were made by DJ Jim Lowe (of Green Door fame). Some were local hits. On #04 the high voice backing is Bobby Hendricks. #01 is an alternate take of his regional hit. It was also recorded by Jimmy Velvet, who was Jimmie Tennant and had been Mullins' manager. "Something" is the Beatles' hit.
I got into this subject from remembering We Belong Together a bit from the radio in 1963, which was by Tennant. Explanations of the identities were given by Phil York when he sold some CDs on ebay. Otherwise nobody knew about this Jimmy Velvit, and the CD was withdrawn by Collectables after a couple years.

Teresa Brewer - Ol' Man Mose / I Beeped When I Shoulda Bopped!
She performed Mose on Ed Sullivan twice. In the Feb.1950 appearance Sullivan says she "made history" last year with that recording. I'd dearly like to know what that meant.
There were only 10 positions on the charts then, so we don't know how well it did. Must have had an effect in New York.
Her first performance was August 1949, which would be good to find. In 1958 Sullivan had a 10th anniversary show which included a clip of her 1949 appearance. That episode is viewable at the Paley Center in New York. That's an assignment for any ambitious person, and see if you can capture the image.
Here's the video of 1950 on YT:

Thanks for the link to the 1934. For a major hit it is hard to find. To me the 1937 rerecording does not sound as genuine, tho more polished. Where to get the 1934?

Sons Of The Pioneers - Cowboy Camp Meetin' / Tumbling Tumbleweeds
THIS was RCA's rerecording of Decca's Tumbling Tumbleweeds. RCA reused it for single reissues in future decades. They also reissued it in 1947 for some reason.
It is actually being incorrectly used in a 1934 hits album online.

Sons Of The Pioneers - Cool Water / Stars And Stripes On Iwo Jima
This subject is loaded with errors. So they only recorded it in 1945, and that was used for the two 1947 releases? Then the 1945 recording was used for all 45 reissues. My Golden Greats 45 is WRONG when it says "from the "Cool Water" album.
On Nolan's site he gives a 1959 recording by Tommy Doss. This must be from the Cool Water LP?
By the way is there a recording of Whoopie-ti-yi-yo (Get along little dogies) other than that LP?

In the new RCA arrangement in the chorus the bass voice goes up and down alone. RCA used this one on reissues for years.
This record did not chart for RCA.
