12" Single
Shakin' Stevens - Merry Christmas Everyone (Extended Version)
This was definitely released in 1985. This was the standard issue 12" as compared to the special edition advent calendar sleeve.

Thank you Mr Marmalade. I would say the linked French issue is exactly the same as this one, pressed in France but for the UK market. I would certainly suggest using Svend's superior images over mine though if the two entries were to be merged.

Around about 1984 the Everest label seems to have changed its name to Premier and maybe these '1984' labels come from that crossover period. The later Everest labels even use the same typeface as the replacement Premier label. See, for example, Everest CBR 1008 and Premier CBR 1008.

Shakin' Stevens And The Sunsets - Tiger
This album was definitely released in 1982 (when I purchased my copy), not 1984. The later labels seem to have misleadingly added a 1984 copyright date. The recordings themselves were actually made with the Sunsets in Holland around 1974 and were rough demos never intended for proper release. They were leased to several different labels around Europe in the early '80s when Shaky was at the height of his popularity.

Queen - Bohemian Rhapsody (Single Version)
I remember seeing quite a few of these kind of releases on sale in HMV back in the 90s, so they must have been legal, even if Parlophone had no input into the packaging. See also Love Me Do.

Am I right in thinking there are no pressings of this album with the mono mix? My copy has mono labels but a stereo mix (true stereo by the way, not reprocessed). If this is so, isn't it inaccurate to describe it as a 'Mono LP' and shouldn't this listing be merged with the stereo issue? Effectively the only difference between the two releases are label variations and some minor changes to the rear sleeve.

Sex Pistols - Never Mind The Bollocks Here's The Sex Pistols
Magic Marmalade, this is Bill Price's explanation for the unusual production credit:

"The simple facts of the matter were that Chris was hired by Malcolm (McLaren) to do a series of singles for the Sex Pistols. I was hired by Malcolm to do a series of album tracks with the Sex Pistols. Life got slightly complicated, because I did a few album tracks that Chris remade as singles. Also, Chris started a couple of tracks, which got abandoned as singles, which I remade to be used as album tracks. On quite a large number of songs, when we'd finished the album, we had two versions of the song. I couldn't quite understand why Malcolm kept chopping and changing between different versions of different songs. It slowly dawned on Chris and myself that Malcolm was trying to slip between two stools and not pay Chris or me. So we said, "I'll tell you what, Malcolm. Whatever's on the Sex Pistols' album, it was either done by me or Chris, and you can pay us and we'll divvy it out amongst our little selves." Which is what we did. But it did force that very strange credit, simply because the sleeve was printed long before it was finally decided which version of each individual song was on the record. If we'd known, it would have said 'produced by Bill Price' or 'produced by Chris Thomas'. That's how you ended up with that credit, 'produced by Bill Price or Chris Thomas'."

Matthews' Southern Comfort - Matthew's Southern Comfort
I think technically this was an Ian Matthews solo album, although nowhere on the record does it actually suggest that. Only Gordon Huntley from these sessions went on to be a member of the group Matthews Southern Comfort (note lack of apostrophe) that made the two albums following this release. The single from the album, Colorado Springs Eternal, was credited to Matthews' Southern Comfort however (with the apostrophe). I believe by the time they got to Woodstock, Matthews Southern Comfort was a fully fledged band.

These labels look Dutch to me and have the apostrophe in the wrong place. Also, pseudonym or not, shouldn't the composer credits match what's printed on the record?

I know John and Yoko rented Ringo's flat in Montagu Square around about 68/69. Maybe John left his copy there and Ringo 'forgot' to return it...

John Lennon - Walls And Bridges
Added front and back sleeves in their various 'flap permutations' as well as the inner sleeve and booklet.

My copy has a South African pressing inside, as seen here. I'm wondering if the vinyl was imported into the UK (a lot of UK singles at the time were overseas pressings due, I think, to lack of production during the three-day week) or alternatively the complicated nature of the sleeve meant it couldn't be produced in South Africa and that had to be imported from the UK. Can anyone shed any more light on this?
