| | Finally found time to sit and listen to whole album today, the last time must be over fifty years ago. What is Revolution 9 all about (drink and drugs) or ran out of decent tracks to fill the space. |

| | @thegreatbear96, I'm afraid I am uploading sheet music always under the respective records ever since. That is my main "concern", i.e. albums and 45s. |

thegreatbear96 6th Mar 2024
| | Credit to Wurzelsepp for sheet music scans - just a suggestion, I was wondering if any of the sheet music shown on this page could be moved to the "music memorabilia" section (with the exception of Ob-La-Di, as it is already in that section)? There is a lot of Beatles sheet music added to the Music Memorabilia section, so thought they might make nice additions. |

Matrix numbers are Side 1 YEX 709-1
Side 2 YEX 710-3
Side 3 YEX 711-1
Side 4 YEX 712-1
I want to give credit to The Beatles-Collection.com for information about this particular pressing.
My particular copy is not numbered, but The Beatles is raised. |

| | Just added my second copy of this masterpiece, UK number 0008735. All photos, poster & black inners correct and present. Cover slightly grubby in places but no tears. Lps in good nick too (stereo) and with first press matrix numbers. A bargain at GBP30 I thought. Probably worth a bit more than that. I've added it to the registry JPGR&B poster! |

| | Thanks roboleyton, I remember lots of parties late 68/69 and so my memory a bit fuzzy of that period, but I do know I would not have waited a year to get the album.
Just had another look, and has the Stereo on the top right hand corner of back cover,
so i'm guessing it would have been around Nov/December 68 issue. |

TopPopper 4th Dec 2013
| | They all say Mfd in UK (even the one made in France!). Don't know why some omit "An EMI Recording", but I don't think it's obligatory. Could be a mistake, or they thought it unnecessary, or moved it to the sleeve, etc. |
|
|
|
getalife 4th Dec 2013
| | robleyton, thanks for that. Not being a record collector, aged 16+ at the time, all I was interested in was getting the latest Beatles release, the package was of no interest, did the collectors of that time (no internet, eBay, email, very few had phones ) only Melody Maker and NME for info, see the potential in the low numbers on the album and if so, did the managers of the shops pick out the best for themselves or to pass on to collectors at a special price.
TopPopper, “mfd” = manufactured in U.K. and “An EMI Recording” = ownership of the audio tracks, but why only on some labels and not all. |

roboleyton 3rd Dec 2013
| | getalife, numbers were dispatched pro-rata to all stores depending how many they ordered, so the rest of the country would get low numbers, the same way as bigger stores in London, or other cities. However I have a copy of the Mono version with #0249116, but contains a 1st pressing. This is because Stereo, and Mono copies were assigned certain batch numbers, this way there are no Stereo, or Mono albums with the same number. It also shows that the numbers were not sent out in any paticular order. There is a website somewhere that covers this, I'll have to find time to look it up so I can link it to this release. |
|
|
|
TopPopper 3rd Dec 2013
| | I'm sure there is a legal requirement to state where it is manufactured. That's nothing to do with "An EMI Recording" which concerns the ownsership of the audio tracks, rather than where the LP was made. |

| | Ref “A silly question” did record number get mixed before being dispatch, so every one had a chance of getting a low number album no matter what part of the country you lived, or did the lower ones go to certain stores.
What’s the difference between “mfd. in U.K.” and “An E.M.I. Recording” |

...thanks very much for the info., and that date of 1969-1970 seems to fit. I know I did not buy it as a new release, but bought 'Abbey Road' album the day it was released.
I think I got the white album sometime in 1970.
All good information, cheers. |

roboleyton 1st Dec 2013
| | If your copy has white inner sleeves, and side openings for the discs, then that will be a later issue (late 1969 - early 1970), and will have 6 figures not 7, which were on issues from 1968 to 1969. Also earlier issues came with black inner sleeves, and the labels had 'Sold in the U.K., Subject etc..' text at the top. Also the opening for the discs was at the top, not the sides. |
|

|
YankeeDisc SUBS 1st Dec 2013
| | The scan of the sleeve at top displays the individual number as No. 0034962.
Another mentions No.0318430, and a mono version mentions No. 0116560
My stereo copy has No. 274750 on the front sleeve, only six digits showing, whilst I note other copies show seven as well. Any reason?
My copy has "Garrod and Lofthouse International Ltd" on inner part of gatefold sleeve, the labels are identical to those posted by kab2112 (1805, 1806, 1807, 1808), and there is no mention of stereo printed on inner gatefold. All inner extras inlcuded, and standard white inner sleeves included, without die-cut holes to view vinyl, plus printed on them "Made In Great Britain Patent Nos. 1,125,555".
Vinyl is side entry into gatefold sleeve, and the flaps on my copy are on the inside, at the top only, making mine a one piece printed item before trimming and assembly.
The spine printing reads "The BEATLES Stereo PCS 7067-8 Mono PMC 7067-8 ", note the use of half-case is included.
I cannot recall when and where I bought it. |

| | All covers printed between 1968 and 1978 were pressed by Garrod & Lofthouse. Early issues will have the name of the printer inside later (Late 1969) will just have 'Printed and Made in Great Britain, with the Yellow Submarine Album (PCS 7070) some of the first copies have G & L on the bottom, some don't, but they are both printed by the company. As with the numbers the numbering of the covers continued well into the early 70s upto about 1972. P.S. the Beatles and their families got Numbers 1 -25. |
|
|
|
getalife 5th Sep 2013
| | A silly question,
if the covers were made at different printers, each printer must have been given batch numbers to do, and I’m guessing not all the records were pressed at EMI Hayes, therefore, did they wait for all the different parties to deliver and then match up records with covers, the first say 1-200 went to those at the top to pick who has what, did the remaining records then get shuffled up and distributed to the outlets or did certain stores get batches of No’s 201- 500, 501-999 and so on.
If printer B had his 1,000-2000 ready before printer A’s 201-999, would they have been distributed first. |
