The Twisters - Doin' The Twist
An assortment of rather pedestrian twist instrumentals; but for those with a need to twist to "Take Me Out To The Ball Game", then this LP is just the ticket.
Does anyone have some info about this New York Fortuna label? d'cogs has this as a 1962 release, but I have found nothing to support that so far.

Jimmy Dodd And Ruth Carrell - Think Of The Fun / I Never Will Forget You
Estimating release date as 1946 until we have more definite information.
The same participants were involved in a release of two different tracks on Enterprise 225/226, ca. Nov 1946; that release has matrix nos. SH 1085 & SH 1084, so these sides could have originated at the same session.

The Gary McFarland Orchestra - The Jazz Version Of "How To Succeed In Business Without Really Trying"
The Billboard review date (Dec 18) would suggest that this release was rushed out, given that it was recorded in mid-November.

Tyree Glenn - At The Roundtable
Looking at the trade magazines, the stereo release was issued in December 1958, but I cannot find a mention of the mono version until February of 1959.

So it seems like they cheated a bit ...

Bruce Springsteen - Royalty Of Rock : A Celebration Of The Rock Empire
I do not have the cue sheet.
The title "Bruce Springsteen I" would suggest that there was an additional hour or program, not sure. A summary of the four segments from listening:

segment 1: narration; BS snippet; "Rosalita (Come Out Tonight)"; Jimmy Iovine snippet; "Born To Run"
segment 2: (BJ ?) snippet; "Thunder Road"; narration; Robert Hilburn snippet; Cameron Crowe snippet; "The Promised Land"
segment 3: Flo & Eddie snippet; "Hungry Heart"; narration; "Out In The Street"
segment 4: "Tenth Avenue Freeze-Out"; (?) snippet; "Blinded By The Light"; Cameron Crowe snippet; "I'm a Rocker"

Benny Goodman Sextet - Boy Meets Goy (逢びき) / Original Boogie Woogie (オリジナル・ブーギー・ウーギー)
Recordings from 1939 & 1940. Given the situation in Japan (and "Nippon Columbia Co, Ltd." on the labels), I reckon that this was probably released after the war.
Interesting that each label has a tempo indication.
Also, "Boy Meets Goy" understandably did not easily translate to Japanese; "逢びき" roughly translates to "meeting" or "encounter". As it turns out, 逢びき was the title for the Japanese release of the 1945 film "Brief Encounter".

The Drifters - White Christmas / The Bells Of St. Mary's
I added clearer scans (with respect to coveboy), and flipped the side order; I'm pretty sure that "White Christmas" was the intended a-side.

The Surf Coasters - Outside Break
Stumbled across this CD and became an instant fan; only regret is that it took me so long to find out about this band.
Fivenine Factory is a Japanese label, but it looks like this was released specifically for the USA (printed in Canada) in anticipation of their September 2008 west coast tour, which began in Seattle and ended in El Segundo. I think that the CD was available for purchase at the gigs.
This release is similar to their Japanese "Breakout" CD, with a couple of different tracks.
If you're a fan of surf rock, I give this (and their earlier releases) a strong recommendation.

The Krieger-Densmore Reggae Bonanza - Kinky Reggae
Recorded around the same time as the second Butts Band LP, and with the same lineup, as shown in the photo insert.
In addition to the wrong photo on the cover, Alex Richman was credited as Richmond.

From Cash Box June 25, 1983, page 8: "Warner/Elektra/Atlantic Corp. recently announced its initial releases of Compact Digital (CD) Audio Discs, set to be out on Aug 1."

I have included a snippet from the Cash Box article which lists all of those releases.

Randy Newman - Randy Newman's "Faust"
I attended Randy's solo benefit performance at the La Jolla Playhouse around the time of Faust's premier. Attendees were given a copy of this CD. He played several numbers from the musical along with his more familiar songs. It sounded like many of the cast members were in attendance as well; you could hear them responding to his inside jokes about the production.
I also attended one performance of the musical itself, which I enjoyed, although I tended to agree with the L.A. Times review, which stated that the show needed some tightening up here & there.
I'm sorry to say however, that after seeing the show, and hearing Randy's renditions, this album sounds rather bland in comparison, and I have trouble warming up to it.

Looks like the folks at Atlantic ventured outside their normal territory with this release. I don't know if they tried something similar again.
BTW you can see that both sides of my copy have labels that have been pasted over other labels; the ones underneath have a slightly different layout.

The Animal Kwackers - Christmas Favorites
This has no connection to the UK TV series; instead, it sounds like an attempt to ride the coattails of the Jingle Cats release from the previous Christmas season. The main difference here is the addition of sampled barnyard animals.

Josh White - Josh White Sings
Compiled from Mercury LP releases from the 1950s and 1960s. Some tracks may also have been taken from Josh's Keynote albums from the 1940s (the Keynote masters were acquired by Mercury in 1948). I would have to listen and compare various tracks to be sure of their sources though.

I estimated the 1966 release date - the earliest mention of the Blue Ribbon label that I've found is from Record World, March 12, 1966. It was one of the 'higher-grade' labels from Premier, at $1.98 retail. This LP, along with the other 9 items shown on the back cover, was part of the initial Blue Ribbon release.
