LaurenceD SUBS ● 18th Sep 2020 | | Vinyl AlbumFour Tops - Anthology | Added alternate labels from Superior Record Pressing Corp. (thanks to W.B.lbl for that info)
"SRPCW" is visible on the top side label of each disc (sides 1, 3 & 5).

LaurenceD SUBS ● 18th Sep 2020 | | Vinyl AlbumDarlene Paul - Miss Darlene Paul | No additional runout info...
Not certain about those two phone numbers, but they are probably from the Los Angeles area:
278-5922 :
- CRestview = Beverly Hills CA
- CRestwood = Beverly Hills CA
- BRoadway = Los Angeles CA
876-6019
- TRemont = Los Angeles CA

- TRinity = Downtown Los Angeles CA

LaurenceD SUBS ● 13th Sep 2020 | | Vinyl AlbumGrateful Dead - Shakedown Street | Added images, including improved front cover, with regards to Diognes_The_Fox & TheJudge
LaurenceD SUBS ● 12th Sep 2020 | | Vinyl AlbumVarious Artists - Capitol Single Record Release 616 | Thanks IamBgas, your supposition sounds quite plausible.
LaurenceD SUBS ● 7th Sep 2020 | | Vinyl AlbumVarious Artists - The Original Cast Album "Grease" | Added variant front cover and labels. The cover has an additional Lion Records logo - no idea why, since the labels and cat # are for the same MGM release.
LaurenceD SUBS ● 3rd Sep 2020 | | 78 RPMLanny Ross - I Get Ideas / In The Cool, Cool, Cool Of The Evening | These all seem to be covers of hits from 1951.
LaurenceD SUBS ● 30th Aug 2020 | | CD AlbumBee Gees - Bee Gees' 1st | Probably a 1985 release, but not sure
LaurenceD SUBS ● 30th Aug 2020 | | CD AlbumVarious Artists - Assault The Vaults: Rare Australian Cover Versions Of The Brothers Gibb | I am not aware of any Bee Gees recordings of these songs; perhaps a few demos exist, someone with more expertise would know. As you listen to these recordings, you definitely can hear various Gibb brothers providing backing vocals on many of them.
LaurenceD SUBS ● 28th Aug 2020 | | CD AlbumVarious Artists - Assault The Vaults: Rare Australian Cover Versions Of The Brothers Gibb | I would imagine that most of the singles used for this compilation are quite difficult to obtain.
LaurenceD SUBS ● 26th Aug 2020 | | 78 RPMFolke Lindahl - Trommelvalsen (Drum Waltz) / Halve Kaede (Half Chain) | I found an archive of the Let's Dance newsletter here. No mention of this item, but I see that releases 79 & 80 are mentioned in the Record Finder column in the March 1951 issue. So this is probably from 1950 or 1951.
LaurenceD SUBS ● 26th Aug 2020 | | Vinyl AlbumDave Mason - Dave Mason Is Alive! | Live tracks from the same Troubadour recordings as released on side 2 of Headkeeper. And like that album, released without Dave's consent.
LaurenceD SUBS ● 20th Aug 2020 | | Vinyl AlbumMark Slade - Mark Slade's New Hat | Issued in a gatefold sleeve, and included a life-size 2' X 6' poster. I don't want to be too hard on Mark, but to describe him as a singer would be quite charitable...
My favorite tracks are A6 (has whistling instead of singing) and B6 (instrumental).
And then there is track B2: "Are They Gonna Shoot God?" [YouTube Video]
LaurenceD SUBS ● 18th Aug 2020 | | 78 RPMArt Carney - Sheeesh, What A Grouch! / She Never Left The Table | Note that there are 3 'e's in "Sheeesh" here, though if you look around the web this song title is almost always spelled with "Sheesh".
LaurenceD SUBS ● 18th Aug 2020 | | 78 RPMPedro Bugarin - O Mi Pa-Pa / Amor Secreto (Secret Love) | Thank for that link Mike, very informative; though I'm skeptical about a 1952 date for this release, because AFAIK the first recording of Secret Love did not appear until late 1953.
LaurenceD SUBS ● 18th Aug 2020 | | 78 RPMPedro Bugarin - O Mi Pa-Pa / Amor Secreto (Secret Love) | Considering the two hits covered here, this was probably released sometime in 1954.
The address for this label (3703 N. 7th St., Phoenix AZ) was also used by the Ramco and Old Timer labels in the late 1950s.
LaurenceD SUBS ● 18th Aug 2020 | | 78 RPM[no artist listed] - Golden '49er Theme Song | I'm curious Wackywecords, what size is this disc?
(BTW I added an image for a 1949 advert from Esquire)
LaurenceD SUBS ● 18th Aug 2020 | | Classical ItemBerliner Philharmoniker, Riccardo Mutti - Bruckner: Symphony No. 4 | Bruckner revised this symphony several times between 1874 and 1888. Based on the included notes and the movement descriptions, I believe that this is a performance of the so-called 1878-1880 edition from Leopold Nowak.
LaurenceD SUBS ● 16th Aug 2020 | | 78 RPMJim Wynn's Bobalibans - Butter For My Roll / Gal | Thanks Mike; based on that listing I've adjusted Gilt-Edge 531 to 1945 as well.
LaurenceD SUBS ● 16th Aug 2020 | | 78 RPMJim Wynn's Bobalibans - Butter For My Roll / Gal | Not 100% sure about the 1946 release date; more precise info welcomed
LaurenceD SUBS ● 14th Aug 2020 | | CD AlbumJeff Beck - Truth | From the inlay: X ~ 91-7-24 C-7-25
I think this may indicate a release date of July 25, not sure though
LaurenceD SUBS ● 10th Aug 2020 | | Vinyl AlbumVarious Artists - Good Buddies | The image for the cover back belongs to a different LP; it has been moved there and hidden.
LaurenceD SUBS ● 8th Aug 2020 | | Classical ItemJosef Greindl, Hertha Klust - Carl Loewe: 3 Balladen: Archibald Douglas, Der Nöck, Edward | Not 100% sure about that release date; might be 1959. This item was in print for a number of years and there are versions with varying covers and labels, but all with the same cat#.
My cover has the date 7/61 on the back lower right.

4 / Morning Dew
5 / Going Down
6 / New Ways/Train Train
7 / Got The Feeling

LaurenceD SUBS ● 6th Aug 2020 | | Cassette AlbumClarence White And The Kentucky Colonels - Clarence White And The Kentucky Colonels | One small problem with my copy: the tape actually plays an album by Steve Young called "Seven Bridges Road" (Rounder C-3058). Not a bad album though...
LaurenceD SUBS ● 4th Aug 2020 | | CD AlbumJeff Beck Group - Rough And Ready | The mixes for this CD as well as for the equivalent 'Orange' album CD are quite different from the original LPs. For one thing, Jeff's guitar sounds much more up front. This forum post gives a pretty good description. I don't possess the Iconoclassic releases, but I'm told that they are more faithful to the sound of the original releases.
LaurenceD SUBS ● 2nd Aug 2020 | | Vinyl AlbumMerv Griffin - Merv Griffin's Dance Party | From Billboard May 8, 1961 article p.7 "Carlton To Release Three Album Lines With Special Deals":
The label is releasing this week a "Charanga" LP with Merv Griffin ... Griffin will plug the album on his New York TV show and offer the "Charanga" set to his fans for only $2 by mail.
Merv's "Charanga" single (Carlton 545) spent 4 weeks on the Billboard charts, peaking at #69. It looks like that was not enough to rescue this LP from obscurity...

LaurenceD SUBS ● 30th Jul 2020 | | Vinyl AlbumThe 4 Seasons - Born To Wander | Yes W.B., those labels are from the same disc.
LaurenceD SUBS ● 26th Jul 2020 | | CD AlbumThe Beatles - Raw Energy | Of all the CD releases of the Decca audition recordings, this may very well be the worst-sounding of the bunch. This description sums it up pretty well.
