Penny Nicholls - Love's A Gamble / I'm Saying A Prayer
Planet Records made a bid for the Woolworth's franchise for issuing "hits of the day" style records but lost out to Oriole who started their new label Embassy. As a result and soon after Planet folded.

Steve Stannard - Perfidia / Pepe
There's even a later 78 by Dennis Farnon BM 430 issued in 1964 - not yet listed.

But do these library recordings count as they were not readily available to the buying public.

The Supersonics - The Sheik Of Araby / New Guitar Boogie Shuffle
These instrumentals are really guitarist Billy Mure doing his take on Les Paul's multi-tracking and doing it very successfully too.

Joe "Mr. Piano" Henderson - If Only / Where There's You And Good Companions
Even though J Scott & J Fraser appeared in the film this is not a soundtrack recording but a studio cash-in version - engineered by Joe Meek.

Alan Kent - Gina / More
This is a super record for its time with Alan K in fine voice and a great tune. Orchestration is helped along with an accordion. I reckon it could have been a hit on a major label but consigned to obscurity on rare Polydor.
Does anyone have any info on Alan or even a picture?

Lita Roza - (How Much Is) That Doggie In The Window / Tell Me We'll Meet Again
The true story is that Lita, after much protest, was coerced into recording this cover version of Patti Page by Decca and despite its success she vowed never to sing it again - and she didn't, bless her.

Max Bygraves - Fings Ain't Wot They Used To Be / When The Thrill Is Gone
According to my information the last Decca 78 was Bob Cort's Mule Skinner Blues on F 11256 also from 1960.

Joe "Mr Piano" Henderson And His Friends - Ask For Joe / Heart Of Gold
I always thought that Henderson's "friends" were people dragged in from the street as that's what they sound like on these singalong records. There are loads of these records and they are mostly terrible!

Jerry Lee Lewis - Whole Lotta Shakin' Goin' On / It'll Be Me
In the 50s I used to own HL 8142 Bill Haley's Green Tree Boogie and that was a black & gold London copy. I recall it well as it was the only London 78 that I had like it. Sadly it was lent to a mate who broke it.
