Blackadder (1983 - 1989)
While I've got no time, or respect for that utter moron, Rowan Atkinson, one person in the cast has shown himself to be a master presenter of documentary shows, Tony Robinson goes from strength to strength in his role as presenter/narrator of shows like "Time Team", "Britain's Real Monarch" and other shows of that genre.

@RC, if you bought the set very recently(say, in the past month), then paying only $70 means the set's devaluation in percentage terms is the same as the number of dollars you saved, i.e. 30% = $30.

I've been racking my brain, trying to think of who else did that song at A1 and it just occurred to me as I started typing this..... Joe Simon! And what's more, his version was also on Polydor.

This could well be an export-oriented pressing, made in, but not intended for sale in Germany. The copyright warning, though truncated, is in English, the public performance clearance is through NCB(National Copyright Board) as opposed to Germany's GEMA.... yep, this is an export job!

The way I do it, I string several "tracks" together to form one long file, blending each onto the end of the last via mix-paste function, so that as one song ends, the next come in just a few seconds before and the crossfade is a natural one.

The lads at EMI Australia were rushed off to the doctor's surgery after they wrote those notes... to get their tongues surgically removed from their cheeks! ha-ha!

A while back(last year, in fact) I bought an MP3 player for the car. I play it through a cassette adaptor(a cassette shell containing electronics to feed the audio from any source with a headphone socket, the adaptor's lead is plugged into). I have a set of "mixes" which I put together with Sound Forge. Each Mix runs about 75 or so minutes of non-stop music, crossfaded. I've been a bit remiss in not making up any new mixes for it lately, but when the mood takes me, I'll make up a few Motown mixes for my next trip to Nundle so I'll have something to listen to on the way.

RC's 4th May comment: "Despite a running time of almost one hour the vinyl edition of this release has only ever been available as a single LP" That's not at all surprising, RC. Look at the K-Tel 20-hits LPs, each side runs for roughly 30 minutes for nearly an hour's total playing time on ONE disc, so there was no need to spread the contents of this album over two discs(as it happens, The Beatles 1962-1966 "The Red Album" could've easily been accommodated on just one LP). A blank CD-R has a capacity for 1 hour and 20 minutes of playing time if burned as a disc to be played on an ordinary CD player, but, if you burn the tracks as raw MP3 data files(using the CD-R as a storage medium), playable only on a computer drive, you can get 12 or more hours of continual playing time.

@23skiddoo! I'm with you on this one! Taking risks is one thing but taking stupid risks is something else altogether, and that's Irwin... Stupid risks! He even had his own then-infant son in a crocodile enclosure on one instance. One snap from any of those crocs at an inopportune moment and that kiddy's life would've ended then and there. That's the very reason why our home video cameras(and professional cameras) have the telephoto feature, to get a close-up shot without putting yourself in harm's way!

@RC, EXACTLY! If Irwin had shot that ray from a distance and used his telephoto, the stingray's tail(from where the venom is excreted) wouldn't have hit him and he'd be alive today.

Steve Irwin was an out-and-out idiot! It's his own stupidity that got him killed by getting in TOO close instead of using the telephoto facility on his camera to capture the up-close shots! If he'd done that, he'd have still been around to watch his children grow up.

Obviously, EMI-Electrola hadn't regained the rights to United Artists when this was issued, but there must've been some wheeling & dealing done to secure "Rhythm Of The Rain"(Cascades) which is owned by Warner.

The later deletion of Apple TC-TVSS-8 "Essential Beatles" was possibly to give people an extra few years to buy an "official" issue for their car instead of taping it on their home stereo. Guess they(EMI) wanted to grab a bit more revenue out of it while they still could!

Eddie Hodges - I'm Gonna Knock On Your Door
With Eddie Hodges, still not much more than in his early teens at the height of his career, his repertoire would've been selected by his adult "minders". Hodges himself would've been given very little, or no say in what he recorded.

I dunno, might be your scanner & software, RC, but the label comes up looking yellowish to me. The colours for these "unified" labels also varied, even from one Parlophone to another on occasions. Some would be orange, some yellow, some black(with white print). It depended on whether they were normal PCSO-series or special PLAY-1000-series, and on the whim of EMI management too, to a degree. As for going as far as 2009, I seriously doubt that one, particularly here in Australia where the "majors" committed the ultimate industry obscenity of ceasing vinyl production in the early 1990s.

Aah ja! Aber waren diese Lieder auf Hollandisch gesungen?..... Doch Nein! Sie waren natürlich auf Englisch gesungen! Gleich sowie normal!

Er... I'm showing off again, aren't I? Here's the above in English:
Aah yes, but were these songs sung in Dutch? No! They were, naturally, sung in English! Exactly as normal!

Noted some composer credit spelling mistakes(or typo's where the keystroke failed to register)
A6 should've been Orlowski(a pseudonym used by Gene Pitney to avoid conflict with publishing, ASCAP Vs. BMI) and A7, should've been Udell rather than Udoll. {modded}

Interesting to note two things about this issue, 1) the copyright warning around the edge is in English rather than Dutch, and the catalogue prefix is 1A rather than 5C. Must be a special export series.

Electric Coconut - Popcorn And Other Switched-On Smash Hits
@RC, funny you mentioning that! I was at Rice's yesterday(30/8/2015) and whilst there I saw two issues of The Most Of Herman's Hermits, one with the older trademark and label(and an AXIS-6000-series number) and the other, on the early 1980s style label and trademark(with an AX-1000-series number), but I guess EMI were only reissuing the major acts on the newer Axis design and didn't consider Electric Coconut warranted a second issue.

A slight variation in the cover art, ay? I haven't seen the cover with the group(?)'s name in yellow. Somehow I don't think the yellow print of "Electric Coconut" would stand out against the background image of all that popcorn. The yellow print cover you have, RC, might be an earlier version of the cover.

To be honest, RC, I'm not sure. I think I might be out by a year. The British MFP issue is shown as a 1973 vintage, so perhaps the Aussie version is of that year also, or perhaps the Aussie version is 1972 and the Brit version was held back from release for a year, resulting in a 1973 release. Oh, I'm so confused!
One thing I do know, though, the follow-up LP, Ticker Tape, is definitely from 1974.
