OldMod67 20th May 2020		Book Roger Langley - Think Tank	Just checked out the omnibus, The Prisoner section on here is filling out nicely! That L.P. sounds like the first Bam-Caruso pressing, with the fold out bars on the front (weba 66). That came with booklets and a map and 6 of 1 membership details etc. My mate bought this from Our Price records in Bournemouth in '86, their only copy, about double the price of a regular album then I think. I had to make do with the regular edition (kiri 66) a bit later and order the bits and bobs separately...

Still have a box file with a load of 1980s Number Six mags, map booklets etc, but I do like the look of the Max Hora titles you've put on. I probably haven't bought any Prisoner related books since that Virgin HB in 1990, but I somehow missed these altogether! I'll Keep an eye out for your others, thanks.

(WHAM L.P. 1 A- crossed out) A PORKY PRIME CUT Side B run out (in full) : ART 20 1 J (WHAM L.P. 1 B -crossed out) THIS IS TOMORROW. A PORKY PRIME CUT. Track listing printed on to three small stickers, stuck to rear of sleeve. This particular copy was purchased early 1984 and features a colour hand-drawn sleeve by Andrew Ball. The design is red, yellow, green traffic lights (with Pop on green) GOES, in red and a can of ART! (Coke) with The Times in bubbles from the can. Obviously loads of designs around, but one I saw just the once (and should have got) featured an actual collage on to the sleeve, resembling Yellow Submarine, maybe even using Beatles cut-outs, if I recall correctly. A similar feel to the reverse of Up Against It (1986)

I also saw this on sale in London, after I had mine, with a sleeve sticker noting the Frank Summit saga. Tracklist as label & sleeve. On vinyl, Think Big! is A5 At the time of this album's release I was convinced it was going to be their last, as apart from tying up the Frank Summit series the L.P. seemed quite 'final'; even referencing their first single on the album's closing song. The Times did resume record releases later on though. I've also entered 1986 as the release date, which is on the cover and label and every site I've seen it on. A November '86 issue of In The Crowd stated it 'should have appeared by the time you read this'. I was always quite 'up' on the band, but my white inner is dated 2-87 printwise, so I'm no longer sure. Perhaps a Times collector can clarify this please?

These errors aside, 1986 was a great year for my taste in albums, this being one of them!

OldMod67 10th May 2020		12" Single 14 Iced Bears - Balloon Song	Just plucked this out of an old record box (at random). Got this whilst working at an independent shop in '87. The picture cover has no overall title, although Frank is in the upper left. I got It for Balloon Song, which John Peel had played and assumed it to be that. It seems to be listed elsewhere as The Importance of Being Frank EP. This is indeed part of the label text, although a previous 7" also had this on. With that in mind I've left the overall title blank for now. 'A' side run out : SOME SHANDY TALKING 'B' side run out : I CAN'T REMEMBER WHAT DOMINIC WANTED

OldMod67 6th May 2020		Vinyl Album Various Artists - The Beat Generation And The Angry Young Men	Label states 'Recorded and mixed some time between 1979 and 1984 not far from Bermondsey' Not sure when in 1984 I got this, but it was advertised on the rear of Extraordinary Sensations modzine (#12) and reviewed inside by Gary Bushall (Bushell), who was often positive reviewing revival era bands in the music press in '79. Interestingly, the review mentions volume 2, 'expected to feature The Mods, Beggar, The Chords, The Onlookers and another couple of '79 bands..hopefully including Directions' Three Bands Tonite'.

OldMod67 3rd May 2020		Vinyl Album Transvision Vamp - Pop Art	Sorry I can't scan it, but for extra information, I was still with an indie shop back then and MCA reps (being good promoters) had a numbered promo to give out. It came in a custom sleeve, thin pink with band logo and L.P. title (but no track listing!) Numbered on a sticker and signed by the band, the record itself was a white label copy. I do still have it boxed away, so will dig it out in case I've missed any details.
OldMod67 2nd May 2020		Vinyl Album The Jetset - There Goes The Neigbourhood	It was some, not all signed on the cover. Info at the time stated 1000 pressed, first 500 signed. I bought my copy (back then) from The Merc, unsigned. It came with the poster, but no flyer. This being the pink sleeve/label edition, by the way. The album later came with blue sleeve/label and then a limited edition with paste-on green artwork, signed by the band and including a b&w photo. This last edition used a regular blue label release, but the rear sleeve listed WORK 1-X as the cat.no. Scheduled release date added. Not sure if this was adhered to.
