PhilMH SUBS 22nd Mar 2022 | ![](//images.45worlds.com/t/ab/brenda-lee-emotions-4-ab-t.jpg) | Vinyl AlbumBrenda Lee - Emotions | Coral distributed by Teldec is 1966 at the earliest, and the THIS IS BRENDA lp shown on the back cover uses a cropped version of the photo from her JOHNNY ONE TIME album, which was a 1969 release, so this is 1969 at the absolute earliest.

PhilMH SUBS 17th Mar 2022 | ![](//images.45worlds.com/t/ab/delaney-and-bonnie-country-life-ab-t.jpg) | Vinyl AlbumDelaney And Bonnie - Country Life | Probably not really unreleased, because Discogs has this, as well as the French release. Jerry Wexler's autobiography suggested that it was unreleased, but maybe he misremembered and the album was actually out for a very short time before he gave the album to Columbia when he sold them D & B's contract. Wexler described the album as "dogmeat" and "unreleasable"; I wonder whether Tom Dowd might have tidied things up a bit? Anyway, the album, retitled "D. & B. Together" and not crediting Mr. Dowd, bombed for Columbia, and the Bramletts split soon afterwards.

Go with just 1987 for now.

PhilMH SUBS 26th Feb 2022 | ![](//images.45worlds.com/t/ab/lena-horne-the-one-only-lena-horne-ab-t.jpg) | Vinyl AlbumLena Horne - The One & Only Lena Horne | Also exists with Polydor labels (my copy); it's a bit odd that this (and others, like the Connie Francis in the "see also" section below) came out on MGM at all, because the use of that label name and trademark was time-limited when Polydor bought MGM Records in 1972, and the entire remaining MGM roster and back catalogue was transferred to the Polydor label in 1976. Maybe someone at what-was-by-then PolyGram Records, Inc. forgot about the time limitation, and the then-current owners of the MGM name gave PolyGram a friendly reminder!

MCA didn't start using barcodes until January 1982, so that is the earliest possible date for this release. Looking in Discogs, there don't seem to be any versions of this catalogue number without the barcode (and they all show the wrong year, too!).

PhilMH SUBS 1st Dec 2021 | ![](//images.45worlds.com/t/ab/alex-north-spartacus-the-sound-track-album-5-ab-t.jpg) | Vinyl AlbumAlex North - Spartacus | Billboard ad in 7th November 1960 issue shows both the mono and stereo catalogue numbers for this album.

PhilMH SUBS 27th Nov 2021 | ![](//images.45worlds.com/t/cm/luciano-pavarotti-ave-maria-cm-t.jpg) | Classical ItemLuciano Pavarotti - Ave Maria | A note on Discogs says this is a mid-80's version because Direct Metal Mastering was introduced in 1981, and Teldec Schallplaten GmbH was founded in 1983. Another clue is the label design here, which is post PolyGram's purchase of Decca in January 1980 (though Teldec continued to have German rights to the label for most of the decade). 1976 applies to the original UK release on Decca SXL 6781.

PhilMH SUBS 26th Nov 2021 | ![](//images.45worlds.com/t/ab/dorothy-love-coates-and-the-gospel-harmonettes-till-my-change-comes-ab-t.jpg) | Vinyl AlbumDorothy Love Coates And The Gospel Harmonettes - 'Till My Change Comes | The April 1968 release date on this entry looks like a typo for April 1969, as the latter is written on the cover, but even that appears to be wrong, as this was reviewed in Record World dated 10th December 1968, and got a 4-star rating in Billboard dated 25th January 1969, so this looks like being a December 1968 release (or maybe even late November). Unfortunately, Eyeball Productions' gospel discography doesn't have a date for the album sessions.

PhilMH SUBS 18th Nov 2021 | ![](//images.45worlds.com/t/cd/roy-orbison-the-mgm-years-19651973-cd-t.jpg) | CD AlbumRoy Orbison - The MGM Years (1965-1973) | A couple of things, everyone:
Firstly, I don't see the B.... catalogue number on here, only the international one 60254723302; the B number is Universal's US and Canadian format, and Discogs has a US edition with that catalogue number, so this one needs to be changed to the 006... number;
Secondly, and once again, being made in Europe does not necessarily equate to "released only in Europe", and this is another one that shows Universal International Music B.V., so was intended for the world outside of the US and Canada and therefore should be made International. I have the equivalent LP edition (a/k/a "bloody great doorstop") purchased from Amazon US, but also made in Europe, and I remember that it was also available via the Roy's Boy's website for worldwide sale.

PhilMH SUBS 16th Nov 2021 | ![](//images.45worlds.com/t/ab/nana-mouskouri-british-concert-ab-t.jpg) | Vinyl AlbumNana Mouskouri - British Concert | Probably just a printing/pressing plant screw-up, ppint - the worker concerned most likely reached for the wrong pile of mostly-blue labels.
|
PhilMH SUBS 13th Nov 2021 | ![](//images.45worlds.com/t/ab/nana-mouskouri-british-concert-ab-t.jpg) | Vinyl AlbumNana Mouskouri - British Concert | PolyGram Inc. in Canada apparently came into being in 1978, so this pressing would date from about then, however this album and catalogue number were first issued in 1972, distributed by London Records Of Canada (1967) Ltd.
EDIT: Of course, I only noticed after I clicked Enter that the 1972 London-distributed copy is already linked below. These two entries can probably be merged if the PolyGram one is simply a later pressing of an already in-catalogue item, rather than a "reissue" as Discogs calls it (not necessarily correctly).

For what it's worth, this was reviewed in Gramophone's September 1964 issue, perhaps pointing towards a release earlier in 1964.
