pudgym 25th Jun 2020 | | Cassette AlbumVarious Artists - Michelob® Night Hits | Yes, it would have been weird if Michelob presented Steve Winwood performing "Back In The High Life Again".
pudgym 25th Jun 2020 | | Cassette AlbumThe Tams - The Tams Greatest Hits (Beach Party) Volume 1 | No composer credits on this cassette.
The songs are the same as on the LP Release of this album, but in a different order.
pudgym 24th Jun 2020 | | Cassette AlbumGerry And The Pacemakers - Ferry Across The Mercy | Golden Circle did a spectacular job of licensing original versions of songs, including many in true Stereo. So how could it mess up the spelling of "mersey" on this release?
pudgym 24th Jun 2020 | | Cassette AlbumDel Shannon - The Best Of Del Shannon | "Little Town Flirt" was incorporated into the memorial cassette I gave to my ex-indoor soccer players to symbolize playing "home" games in cities beyond Chicago (Worcester, MA.; New Haven, CT.).
pudgym 24th Jun 2020 | | Cassette AlbumVarious Artists - Secret Love {Tape 1} | I bought this single cassette (somebody else hung on to the other two cassettes) at Half Price Books in Shaker Heights, OH. The tape was stuck inside the J-Card for Tape #3.
pudgym 24th Jun 2020 | | Cassette AlbumVarious Artists - Rhino · Atlantic · Remasters | This was another cassette discovered in a cassette box at the Les Turner ALS Mammoth Music Mart in a converted parking lot at the Old Orchard shopping center in Skokie, IL.
Most items were used. But one could find new and promotional music media available. This being the 1990s, vinyl was present. When bringing my dad [R.I.P.] there, he inspected and chose LP records.
I preferred to shop cassettes, because I felt they would not have been subjected to as much damage as vinyl LPs.
On the final day (Sunday) of the event, prices were slashed. One could fill up a box of cassettes, which fit forty tapes, for a fixed price. There was at least one year when I walked away from there with three boxes of cassettes.
pudgym 24th Jun 2020 | | Cassette AlbumVarious Artists - Country Music Superstars Volume 4 | This was in a clear cassette box with no J-Card. I deduced the year of release from other Metacom cassette releases.
pudgym 22nd Jun 2020 | | Cassette AlbumThe Cars - Candy-O | Track 11 here wound up on the Chicago POWER indoor soccer memorial cassette I gave to my ex-players.
pudgym 21st Jun 2020 | | Cassette AlbumSlave - Stellar Fungk: The Best Of Slave Featuring Steve Arrington | I bought this cassette at the Les Turner - ALS, Mammoth Music Mart (now defunct) in a parking lot at the Old Orchard Shopping Center.
Two tracks (01, 06) got to Chicago POWER indoor soccer game compilation cassettes. Track 01 was placed upon the compilation cassette I gave to my ex-players.
pudgym 20th Jun 2020 | | Cassette AlbumMichael Jackson - The Original Soul Of Michael Jackson | This was a double-cassette release. Somebody decided to hang on to Cassette #1, because I did not get it. As well, there was nothing on the cassette exterior mentioning this was a double-cassette release.
pudgym 20th Jun 2020 | | Cassette AlbumWas (Not Was) - What Up, Dog? | "Wedding Vows In Vegas" was performed by the group with Frank Sinatra, Jr. on an episode of Late Night With David Letterman.
pudgym 19th Jun 2020 | | Cassette AlbumVarious Artists - Glam Crazee! 20 Original Glam Rock Hits | This cassette landed numerous songs on my Chicago POWER indoor soccer game compilation tapes. Track 05 went on to be included on the memorial cassette I gave to my ex-players.
pudgym 19th Jun 2020 | | Cassette AlbumVarious Artists - Star Collection Vol. 4 | Tracks without composer credits were shown as Copyright Control.
pudgym 18th Jun 2020 | | CD AlbumVarious Artists - Vintage Music Original Classic Oldies From The 50's Volume 4 | Compiled and remastered by Steve Hoffman.
pudgym 17th Jun 2020 | | Cassette AlbumVarious Artists - Jerry Blavat Remembers The Fabulous Fifties Volume Four | I have had this cassette since the 1990s. At least one of these tracks got to a Chicago POWER indoor soccer game compilation cassette. There were three tracks I could not identify. The note now informs me (and perhaps you) why. It took landing on this World-Wide Web page to discern this specific cassette had been mislabeled as Old Gold 5005.

pudgym 7th Aug 2019 | | CD SingleThe Beach Boys - Lil' Bit Of Gold | Is Track 02 the 7-inch single or the LP version?
pudgym 7th Aug 2019 | | Vinyl AlbumVarious Artists - 20 Original Winners Of 1964 | Hmmm...
This was released on Roulette Records.
Morris Levy felt each record was a "winner" in 1964.
Are you contending with something M. Levy states?!
Would you like a new pair of concrete shoes?

pudgym 6th Aug 2019 | | CD SingleAnn Peebles - Vintage Gold CD3 | In the late 1980s, major labels here in the U.S.A. forayed a new medium to the general public. The four-tune (but it could be three) three-inch CD single. I questioned where to put this, because it could be considered a CDEP.
The medium flopped. Recall, the U.S.A. was still purveying full-sized CDs in "the long box".
When these flopped, the discs were cut-out and began turning up in closeout and discount stores like Big Lots and Dollar Tree. As someone who was shopping these stores back then, I bought a bunch of them, even though I did not yet have a CD player.
pudgym 31st Jul 2019 | | Vinyl AlbumThree Dog Night - Hard Labor | @Break-in master - what can I scribe? Some hoity-toity upper-level department store Rolodex riffler got the heebie-jeebies looking at the original 'birth' cover and threatened to not stock the LP unless the art was covered up.
pudgym 31st Jul 2019 | | CD AlbumSteely Dan - Pretzel Logic | Does track 01 have the marimba opening (by Victor Feldman)?
pudgym 26th Jul 2019 | | CD AlbumSteely Dan - Citizen | This, along with this Earth, Wind, & Fire Box set, were bought on Tuesday, 20 June 1995 at Camelot Music on Dublin-Granville Rd in Columbus, OH. I was motoring (in the 1987 Chevrolet Sprint) back from Baltimore, MD. and the American Homebrewers' Association's 1995 Homebrew Conference.
It being a Tuesday, this Camelot Music store was taking an additional 15% off the price of a CD Box Set. Mind you, at this date, I did not have a CD player.
However, my copy had the version of "Ricki Don't Lose That Number" without the marimba opening. At the time of purchase, I did not know there was a marimba opening. It was not until signing up for the Steely Dan e-mail listserv (in August 1996) that I learned the specific disc was remastered. I mailed in Disc 2 and received the corrected disc in reply.

pudgym 13th Jul 2019 | | Vinyl AlbumRoxy Music - Country Life | Thank you Lee. Considering I bought most of my LPs by the pound {weight}, and that most of them have never been played, (I never bought a serious turntable. The record player on which some of these were played -- but perhaps thankfully, most of them were K-Tel compilations, was {is[!]} a Webcor 1960 portable turntable that plays all four speeds); I may have a few LPs with titillating covers. {Oddly enough, the first Andrea True LP cover is not particularly arousing. The sheet music for "More, More, More" shows more flesh, but does not cross the line into NSFW.}
pudgym 13th Jul 2019 | | Vinyl AlbumRoxy Music - Country Life | Without having this LP (believe me, if this had turned up in any cut-out bin I shopped, even if it cost $2.99, I would have bought it), or hearing any of the tracks thereupon, can I give this release a 10? |=p}
pudgym 13th Jul 2019 | | Vinyl AlbumJohnny Cash - Everybody Loves A Nut | Fine print: Cover art by Jack Davis.
pudgym 13th Jul 2019 | | Vinyl AlbumDel Shannon - This Is My Bag | A3 & B3 show composer as Del Shannon. B5 shows as D. Shannon. Come on, people - some proof reading or consistency here, please.
pudgym 13th Jul 2019 | | Vinyl AlbumVarious Artists - Original Early Top 40 Hits | By then, record companies had realized that putting side 1 and side 2 on the same physical platter (and side 3 and side 4 on the second disc) meant whoever was playing the album had to get up (from whatever he [| she?] was doing)(what? OK - in the throes of an orgasm) and physically turn over the discs twice. Putting side 1 on the same platter as side 4 meant he | she would only have to do this once.
pudgym 13th Jul 2019 | | Vinyl AlbumVarious Artists - Spuds MacKenzie's Party Faves | > "Artists featured in the compilation do not endorse Bud Light".
And neither do I.
(But - I do have a Michelob promo cassette with solid late 1980s | early 1990s tracks thereupon, of which at least one [a Genesis song] got on a Chicago POWER indoor soccer mix tape.)
pudgym 13th Jul 2019 | | Vinyl AlbumVarious Artists - 20 Famous Country Hits Volume 4 | Gave a "10" to Johnny Cash's "Folsom Prison Blues" despite the consideration that, if he shot a man in Reno, which is in Nevada as far as I know.. although the contemporary situation of "fake news" may be tainting that; why is he serving a sentence in California?
(Solution: Johnny should[?] have shot the man in Truckee, which is in California. - Songwriter needs a two-syllable city in California - I just gave you one.)
pudgym 13th Jul 2019 | | Vinyl AlbumDean Martin - Everybody Loves Somebody | In their contemporaneous shows, Frank Sinatra facetiously referred to "Everybody Loves Somebody" (which he had originally recorded in the late 1940s!) as "Everybody's Gotta' Be Somewhere".
pudgym 13th Jul 2019 | | Vinyl AlbumVarious Artists - Beer Drinkin' Sing Alongs!! | @beggars road - It is OK. I had a "Beavis & Butthead" 1990s flashback moment. !=)}
