Donald Gets Drafted (1942)
Review
Donald Fauntleroy Duck gets his draft notice and goes in, past all the amazingly enticing recruiting posters, to sign up. First he has to pass the physical. Despite his flat feet, he makes it. Donald wants to fly, but first he has to make it through Sergeant Pete's boot camp. He has a terrible time with close-order drills, and standing at attention without moving when he's over an ant-hill proves a real challenge. Eventually, Donald ends up on endless KP.

Bletchley Park- Code-breaking's Forgotten Genius (2015)
Review
Gordon Welchman was one of the original elite codebreakers crucial to the allies defeating the Nazis in World War II. He is the forgotten genius of Bletchley Park.

Filmed extensively at Bletchley Park, the centre for codebreaking operations during World War II, this documentary features the abandoned buildings where thousands of people worked tirelessly trying to crack the codes; Hut 6, where Welchman pioneered his groundbreaking work; and the machines that Welchman helped design.

Post-war, Welchman moved to the United States to be at the nerve centre of the computer revolution. He was employed by the Mitre Corporation, a US defence contractor, and engaged in top secret work. Recently released top secret documents reveal that the case of Gordon Welchman reached the desk of the British prime minister, Margaret Thatcher, which then led to questions being asked in the House of Commons after Welchman's death.

Welchman's legacy continues to this day as Professor John Naughton and former CIA analyst Cynthia Storer reveal how Welchman's pioneering work in the field of traffic analysis led directly to the modern secret surveillance state, and particularly the use of metadata - as revealed by whistleblower Edward Snowden.

Jon Anderson - Olias Of Sunhillow
Review
Esoteric Recordings is proud to announce the release of a new expanded and re-mastered 2 disc edition of the classic debut solo album by YES vocalist JON ANDERSON, “Olias of Sunhillow”. Released in July 1976, the album was a conceptual work recounting the story of an alien race on a journey to find a new world following volcanic destruction on their home planet. All music on the album was written and performed by Jon Anderson and the recording took place at Anderson’s Buckinghamshire home studio whilst Yes were on hiatus following the tour to promote the album “Relayer”. Initially recorded on an 8-track tape machine, the arrangements were then re-recorded on to a 24-track tape machine. The album saw Jon perform the music entirely alone, teaching himself to play keyboards and acknowledging the influence of such legendary musicians as Rick Wakeman, Patrick Moraz and Vangelis on his work. Indeed, it was even rumoured Vangelis performed on the album, something the maestro would deny in interviews.

“Olias of Sunhillow” was released by Atlantic Records in the summer of 1976 in an elaborate gatefold sleeve designed by David Fairbrother-Roe and was a top ten album in the UK. This Esoteric Recordings edition has been newly remastered from the original album master tapes and fully restores the stunning original artwork and also features a booklet with a new essay and exclusive interview with Jon Anderson.

Over the ensuing years the excellence of the album has led to many calls for the album to be remixed in a 5.1 Surround Sound format. Alas, despite extensive research, the multi-track masters of the album cannot be found. However, this expanded edition of “Olias of Sunhillow” features a DVD featuring a high resolution 96 kHz / 24-bit re-master of the stereo mix and also includes a high resolution 5.1 Surround Sound up-mix derived from the original stereo master tapes as an additional feature.

Spread over 476 pages, with a foreword by Richard Hanson (Superior Software) and Life of an Acorn Gamer by TV's Iain Lee, it features over 150 classic games, with exclusive interviews with key figures in the industry at the time - from the likes of David Braben and Ian Bell (Elite); Geoff Crammond (Revs/Aviator); Peter Irvin (Exile); Tim Tyler (Repton); Nick Pelling (Frak!); Peter Scott (Sim City/The Last Ninja); Gary Partis (Psycastria/Dr Who); Chris Roberts (Stryker's Run); Steve Furber (Acorn) and many, many more - and features on subjects such as key publishers, cover art and classic magazines. The book showcases the computers' inimitable graphic style and is packed full with memories and anecdotes from programmers, artists, publishers, reviewers and enthusiasts. Remember Elite, Chuckie Egg, Repton, Exile, Starship Command, Thrust, Citadel, Revs, Imogen, Codename:Droid, Firetrack, Arcadians, Mr Ee!, Zalaga, Castle Quest, Galaforce, Snapper and many more. An unmissable publication for anyone who grew up with an Acorn 8-bit machine.

I thought it was just me, but I bought this back when it was released and thought it was a dreadful album. It went to a 2nd hand shop in 1971 along with other awful albums when I needed money for alcohol to go to a party. I just don't get why it goes for so much money, certainly not for the musical content as that is negligible. I think a lot of it has to do with the title and the cover looking like a Vertigo swirl. Total rubbish

After entering this yesterday there were quite a few sub numbers in brackets listed as (ii) (iii) etc which ended up as (Ii) Iii) etc after submission. Is there anyway of getting the system to ignore the first i inside the brackets instead of capitilising it. Just doesn't look right.

The Moody Blues - In Search Of The Lost Chord
Apparently the original Multi-Track master went walkies and has never been found. I find that very difficult to believe in this day and age and especially from the Decca Deram stable. The one album that would've really benefited from a true 5.1 surround mix from the original master and it's nowhere to be found, it wouldn't be the first time a well meaning band member misappropriated the tapes. I have the recent 5.1 conversion but I have never got around to listening to it yet so can't say how good or bad it is. So the title became it's epitaph, in search of "In Search Of The Lost Chord" Why did the other 6 albums miraculously remain intact and the really trippier album didn't. To quote their album title "Strange Times"

With this album having "With The Compliments Of Jas. Hennessy And Co., Cognac" on the front of the sleeve should it not be listed as a Promo disc?. Cat# would also point to it being a Promo item (HEN 1) as it had been released previously with the Cat# "VRL 3009" in 1965 in the UK and "SP 4" in France.
