sladesounds 1st Oct 2018		Cinema Tag	Rated 8/10 A funny movie that I thoroughly enjoyed. Based on a true story, this movie gives you a bellyful of laughs helped by a cast of actors that are all well suited to the role. This is an action packed slapstick comedy, nothing more, nothing less. The pace of the movie is quick. The laughs are frequent and adult orientated. Ignoring some of the on-line reviews it is suffice to say that if you liked "Hangover" and its sequels you will enjoy this movie, if you prefer something more highbrow then avoid. 3 people found this review helpful. ✔︎ Helpful Review?

sladesounds 11th Aug 2018		Vinyl Album Quintet Of The Year - Jazz At Massey Hall	In reply to earlier comments this album is credited in most jazz guides as being by "Quitent Of The Year" with the album title "Jazz At Massey Hall" (I have amend the title). This album is billed as one of the most important jazz albums recorded and was the only time this five jazz legends ever recorded together. Regarding the Charlie Parker card on the sleeve it does mention in the notes that Charlie surprised and infuriated some of the audience in an earlier concert when he turned his back on them when playing however Charlie Chan was the alias he used for this recording to get round contractual reasons. I have added my copy on Vocalion and it is linked below.
sladesounds 7th Aug 2018		CD Album John Mayall With Eric Clapton - Blues Breakers	I think this one could be later than 1988 as the tray scan shows "Made in Germany" which indicates (to me) after 1990. My copy just added has again same cat# and barcode# but on London stating made in "West Germany".

sladesounds 16th Jul 2018		TV Big Little Lies (2017 - 2019)	Rated 9/10 They say the that the book is always better than than the film, but having read the excellent novel by Liane Moriarty I can assure you that that this series is as good as, if not better than the book. Shot on location in the wonderful Monterey, California and its surrounding area, the story tells the tale of a group of mothers who on the outside look to have wonderful complete lives but each have their own (big) little lies that are told to just let them cope/survive with their lives. The screen writing is superb and it quickly draws you into the storyline as the character's lives are slowly looked at. Through struggles in their marriages, parental problems, sexual jealously the mystery deepens with each instalment. You know from the first episode there is a killing, but it is not until the end (of season 1) that you find out who is killed and by whom. In the meanwhile you yourself will find several possible victims with a growing list of possible killers. The acting is excellent and by the way the soundtrack is brilliant! The first season closely follows the story set out in the novel however I see that there will be a second season so I await with interest to see where the series will go next. 5 people found this review helpful. ✔︎ Helpful Review?

sladesounds 16th Mar 2018		Vinyl Album Madonna - Ray Of Light	Original entered here on 45Worlds as a "Special Edition", this release back in 2017 was advertised as being exclusive to Sainsburys UK. It was also touted as being a limited release on blue vinyl. This now appears to be a case of when a "special edition" is not a special edition....I just took delivery of this album from Amazon Germany (not a third party seller) who are currently selling this for £19.50 which is cheaper than what Sainsburys were originally selling it for (I think). Same cat #, same barcode, double album on (unlimited!) blue vinyl, just missing the Sainsbury sticker! You can as at today also order the clear vinyl edition of the "Like a Virgin" album which again was a Sainsburys' only release.
