sladesounds 16th Dec 2016		Vinyl Album Frank Sinatra - Softly As I Leave You	My copy (scans shown here) is a 70s reissue with tan/orange labels. The label on this reissue states cat# F 1013 whilst the sleeve rear states FS 1013. The deadwax (on my reissue copy) has the matrix as FS-1-1013-WW2 & FS-2-1013-WW2" and indicates it was pressed at the Winchester, Virginia plant.

sladesounds 1st Dec 2016		Vinyl Album The Steve Miller Band - Greatest Hits 1974-78	Looks good :-) I bought this album (UK issue) as a 16 year old with no idea of what the music was like, just because I thought the cover was so cool. Luckily it was fantastic and it started a lifelong love of Steve's music.

We see this being used for when a record is released in different countries, where a record is issued in different formats, or for where a record is reissued with identical tracks. By linking the records you get to see all the issues on one page. ........Finally, remember that records should only be linked if they are regarded as being different issues of the same release! So I would say that each time an album is released, even with a slight variation of (bonus) tracks then they can be linked.

I watched two dealers go through a small box of 30 or so albums followed by a fellow Sunday morning collector and then watch them all walk away empty handed. I then had my go and the first thing I pulled out was this one hidden amongst the Max Bygraves and Max Boyce vinyl missed by them all. The cover is VG+ whilst the album is Excellent - cost? £1.00 cash :-) One of around 40 albums (McDonald & Giles; ELP; Jethro Tull; Refugee) I picked up this weekend. All originals (mostly 1st pressings) all under £1.00.

Although the set comprises of lots of alternate takes, live recordings and rehearsal output this collection is not just for the die-hard Elvis fans. The recordings cover his full career from the early 50s through to outtakes from his final recordings. Unlike some box sets that feature rough demos and studio outtakes this entire collection (IMHO) is a delight to listen to and if you are looking as a first time Elvis buyer to add something to your collection this set is as good, if not better, than many of the "Greatest Hits/Best of" compilations that have surfaced over the last 40 years since his death. 5 people found this review helpful. ✔︎ Helpful Review?
