TheJudge 21st Aug 2017 | | 12" SingleSoft Cell - Tainted Love/Where Did Our Love Go | The discs were manufactured in France for distribution in the UK, which is why they have the UK cat#.
TheJudge 21st Aug 2017 | | 78 RPMMrs Gerald Legge - I'm In Love / Luck's In Love With You | I'm afraid so.
TheJudge 19th Aug 2017 | | 12" SingleSlade - Six Of The Best | Spirit of compromise: Barn re-built as secondary label.
TheJudge 19th Aug 2017 | | 12" SingleSlade - Six Of The Best | Agreed: Barn demolished.
TheJudge 16th Aug 2017 | | CD AlbumJohn Entwistle - Boris The Spider | If we didn't have them, we'd have a lot of entries placed under the country of manufacture. Discs intended for international distribution are manufactured in only one or two countries (e.g. NL), and it's the country of release which concerns us here.
TheJudge 16th Aug 2017 | | 12" SingleDonna Summer - Hot Stuff | If it's a one-sided release, what's the B-side doing listed here?
TheJudge 15th Aug 2017 | | CD SingleThe Who - Vintage Gold | All that you are talking about is a marketing tool. That's very different to a generic categorisation, which is what we're dealing with here.
TheJudge 14th Aug 2017 | | CD SingleThe Who - Vintage Gold | Because 'CD3' is the option for the third disc of a multi-disc set, is why.
TheJudge 13th Aug 2017 | | CD SingleThe Who - Vintage Gold | Point is, they are 3" CDs. If we followed marketing-speak we'd have a drop-down box for formats which would stretch off screen all the way down to the floor.
TheJudge 7th Aug 2017 | | Vinyl AlbumFurniture - When The Boom Was On | A lot of 12" singles run at 33.3.
TheJudge 6th Aug 2017 | | Vinyl AlbumFurniture - When The Boom Was On | Judging on overall length per side, I think it's nearer to a 12" than an LP.
TheJudge 6th Aug 2017 | | Cassette AlbumChumbawamba - Tubthumper | I'd say EMI Electrola and Europe, to align it with the CD issue.
TheJudge 29th Jul 2017 | | Vinyl AlbumVarious Artists - Good Vibrations | Or 'Kaylan', even...
TheJudge 23rd Jul 2017 | | 78 RPMGeorge Formby - You'll Be Far Better Off In A Home / I Did What I Could With My Gas Mask | 'Gifford, Formby & Cliffe'
TheJudge 30th Jun 2017 | | CD AlbumMuireann Nic Amhlaoibh - Ar Uair Bhig An Lae · The Small Hours | Her name would probably be Anglicised as 'Maureen MacAuley' ('Nic' being the female counterpart to 'Mac').
TheJudge 28th Jun 2017 | | Live MusicKraftwerk @ Bridgewater Hall | Oh and, for what it's worth, here's my sort-of review.
TheJudge 26th Jun 2017 | | 12" SingleHölöcäüst - Heavy Metal Mania | Along with Motörhead and Blue Õyster Cult, this band was responsible for the Great Umlaut Shortage of 1980... :-)
TheJudge 25th Jun 2017 | | Cassette Album? - ? | "Bande Originale" would indicate that it was a soundtrack album of some sort. Beyond that...
TheJudge 24th Jun 2017 | | Live MusicKraftwerk @ Bridgewater Hall | I and the two friends I went with agreed that we'd have paid more than that! And we didn't have the most expensive seats, either. I don't know how much it cost in the front row of the stalls, but Johnny Marr was sitting there!
TheJudge 20th Jun 2017 | | Live MusicKraftwerk @ Bridgewater Hall | I can't comment on the 3D graphics because I have poor stereo vision, and so didn't get much of it. But the sound! Clear as you could ever hope for, no distortion even at high volume (unless they intended it to sound distorted!), and as for the bass - well, it wasn't a gig for people with weak bladders! An amazing event!
TheJudge 8th Jun 2017 | | Vinyl AlbumCat Stevens - Izitso | Curiousity point: tracks A1 and A4 were regularly used as test-card music on BBC2 in the early 80s.
TheJudge 16th May 2017 | | 12" SingleThe Smiths - What Difference Does It Make? | I've just tried to merge the two entries, and something screwy has happened. The Terence Stamp front cover image has disappeared and there are two Morrissey images instead.
(Edit: Erm, no they haven't. It's just that the two images look so alike in thumbnail)
TheJudge 15th May 2017 | | 12" SingleThe Smiths - What Difference Does It Make? | Shouldn't the two entries under RTT 146 be combined? The only difference is the front sleeve, and the info about the difference (and why) could be put in Notes.
TheJudge 14th May 2017 | | 12" SingleYou've Got Foetus On Your Breath - Wash It All Off | J.G. Thirlwell (for it is he) keeps changing his billing (Discogs lists at least twenty variants). I think that we keep to the guideline of 'what's on the label', but simply (!?) link them all.
TheJudge 6th May 2017 | | Vinyl AlbumLarry Adler And Quartet - Harmonica Virtuso With Piano, Trumpet, Bass, Guitar And Drums | Just call it Larry Adler, I would.
TheJudge 5th May 2017 | | CD AlbumPenguin Cafe - The Imperfect Sea | Here you go, chums - Penguins fresh in today!
(What sort of obsession is it which makes me upload the entry to here before I've even listened to it?)
Update: I've now listened to it - it's a beaut!
TheJudge 16th Apr 2017 | | 12" SingleVarious Artists - The Mixes 144 | There isn't enough room in the Notes field for all the tracks. The final part of More Club Anthems '94 contains:
Suzi Carr - All Over Me
D Mob - One Day
Kim English - Nitelife
Rozalla - I Love Music
Living Joy - Dreamer
Tony Di Bart - The Real Thing
Loveland - Let The Music Lift You Up
Awesome 3 - Don't Go
Donna Giles - And I'm Telling You
Brand New Heavies - Dream On Dreamer
K.Klass - What You're Missing
T:Empo - Saturday Night Sunday Morning
TheJudge 14th Apr 2017 | | 78 RPMRagnar Bjarnason - Líf Og Fjör (Wear My Ring Around Your Neck) / Tequila | You mean the number on the label is wrong, or the number in the entry (H.S.H.-78-38) is wrong?
TheJudge 13th Apr 2017 | | Vinyl AlbumHeinz - Remembering... | This wouldn't be from 1964. Discogs gives 1977, but I've removed the year altogether for now.
TheJudge 24th Mar 2017 | | Vinyl AlbumThe Yardbirds - The Yardbirds | Because it's just the caption to the cartoon on the front cover.
