TommyElgin 19th Jun 2024		CD Album The Shadows - Compact Shadows	The first Shadows album to be issued on CD. It included tracks from "Change Of Address" (4), "XXV" (4), "Hits Right Up Your Street" (6) and "Life In The Jungle" (4). These were the 4 Shadows Polydor albums that had been issued to date (all on vinyl at that point).

TommyElgin 22nd Apr 2024		CD Album The Shadows - The Story	From my point of view, the CD-ROM is a waste of time. Also, why would they use a needle drop (a scratched one at that) for "Kon-Tiki"? All in all, a bit of a disappointment.
TommyElgin 30th Dec 2022		CD Album The Supremes - I Hear A Symphony	The cover image shown for this CD looks more like the 1992 edition with catalogue number 3746351472. I think I would expect MOTD-5147 to be a re-badged (or simply re-stickered) MCD09027MD (A Motown Compact Classic). Happy to be proved wrong. Can someone post the rest of the images of MOTD-5147 to verify that the posted CD cover is correct please?
TommyElgin 17th Apr 2022		CD Album The Temptations - Milestone	The UK CD version is 31453-0005-2 although I'm quite prepared to believe Motown issued 2 versions one after another (31453-0004-2) as they did it with Shanice's "Inner Child" - 31453-0007-2 and 31453-0008-2 presumably for different markets.
TommyElgin 4th Sep 2021		Live Music Trammps @ Palace Theatre	Went to this concert at the Palace Theatre. As far as I recall there were no programmes on sale. The Diversions were fronted by Lene Lovich. The Trammps were great but didn't perform many numbers sadly. Left a little disappointed and felt a bit short changed. Nevertheless it was still a privilege to see The Trammps.
TommyElgin 20th Apr 2021		Vinyl Album The Miracles - The Miracles From The Beginning	The track listed as "Mama Done Told Me" and released on the UK edition of "From The Beginning" [TML11031) is by Herman Willis and is called "Come On". This track (and two others by Willis) are in the Motown Vaults but are not actually owned by Motown - though I think Motown owns the tape they were recorded on. It looks like the engineer just sent the wrong tape to the UK, and as no-one there had ever heard it, or the Miracles track, it didn't get flagged and was released. Doesn't mean it was a Motown recording, though, and even if it was, it doesn't mean Willis got a contract.
TommyElgin 26th Jul 2020		CD Album Mary Wells - My Guy	This release is the EU version of the US CD MOTD-5167 and shares artwork with that release (rather than the later re-issue on 3746351672). MOTD-5167 was itself derived from the 2ON1 CD MCD08024MD and shares some artwork with that release as well as the "reciprocal" cover from "Two Lovers" which was the accompanying album on the 2fer. This is a common feature with several of the MOTD single album releases that had previously been released on the original 2 albums on 1 CD series but it does not occur when the first stand alone CD album was in the 9000 series (typically as A Motown Compact Classic) in which case the MOTD shares some of the artwork with that version. Releases in the 37463XXXX2 series were later re-issues and don't usually employ all the same artwork. The front covers will usually be the same though not always..
