RCA Canada must've thought, based on the cat. # and the pricing based thereon, that it was marked for issue on their Red Seal subsidiary. Especially when you see some of the song titles. Compare that to the U.S. where, in spite of the cat. #, it was issued on regular "black label, white lettering, dog on top" labels.

John F. Kennedy - John F. Kennedy
{Images #3463298 & 3463289} was pressed by Decca's Gloversville, NY plant.

Who would have pressed {Images #2466505 & 2466506}, with the West Coast Bert-Co label type? I presume RCA Hollywood . . . ?

Curious about the diameters of the pressing ring and center label on this one.

From what I see and have measured from the pics, the label was ~2.9375".

I presume, because of {Image #3461041}, the label would be 4.0625" diameter? Or would that be 3.6875"?

The Michael Jackson that produced this would later be known as Michael James Jackson - no doubt due to THAT one.

Also, {Images #3458385 & 3458386} is Columbia Terre Haute; click here for the Pitman type variant.

I'd presume the label size is between 2.9375" and 3", but what'd the pressing ring diameter be?

John Lennon - Shaved Fish
Yep. Now as to the label backdrops printed, there were as much differences. I should note that Artco Press in Terre Haute, IN printed Apple blanks for Jacksonville, but their blacks were - well, too black, and apparently the blanks Jacksonville used for {Images #1014629 & 1014630} may've been Keystone in Scranton - which blanks were definitely used by Winchester {Images #1445551 & 1445552}. Keystone used 80 lb. Matte coated paper (.005 caliper). {Images #529928 & 529929} in terms of the full and sliced apple, would have been printed by Stoughton Printing of City of Industry, CA - whose apples were more yellowish and less bluish than Keystone and even Artco represented them, and which used 70 lb. Matte (Paloma Matte by Consolidated Papers, according to Jack Stoughton Jr.) (.0045 caliper).

Eartha Kitt - If I Can't Take It With Me When I Go / Just An Old Fashioned Girl
Exactly. In most cases, lower matrix numbers indicated what was recorded first, and not necessarily an indicator of what was a designated "A" side. I've actually seen cases on 45cat where promo 45's designated A sides' matrix numbers were higher than the "flip." It all came down to which side was recorded first.

Senator Everett McKinley Dirksen - Gallant Men Stories Of The American Adventure
H. Paul Jeffers would do a turn in the 1970's as news director at all-news staton 1010 WINS in New York. John Cacavas would do frequent music scores for the TV cop/detective series Kojak (and arrange that show's star Telly Savalas' cover of the Bread hit "If").

Ya' chose well to use a Scranton label set. Also . . . the lyricist on "Gallant Men" would be better known as Charles Osgood. (As, in 1967, would be one of the first hires when WCBS 880 AM in New York first launched its "Newsradio 88" format.) He'd changed his professional name owing to their being an announcer on the ABC network (which, in New York, also encompassed WABC-TV, AM and FM) named Charles Woods. Early in his career with CBS, he also worked extensively on certain record projects with Mr. Lustberg and Mr. Jeffers - and had been a roommate of Mr. Cavacas' when both were in the Army marching band in the '50's. But, at the time, he was still anchoring "Flair Reports" on ABC, this may explain the credit used for Mr. Osgood on this, in other words for the proverbial "contractual reasons."

Gene Kardos - People Say I'm Crazy / A Little After Eight
This pressing, however, appears to be from 1940 or after, as it was in that year was BMI was founded (notice the "Licensed for Performance by Broadcast Music, Inc." blurb). That, plus 14 point Erbar Light Condensed with Bold Condensed (first used by the ARC/Columbia plant in Bridgeport in January 1938) and the 12 point size (first used in 1939).

Gene Kardos - If You'd Only Let Me / A Million Disappointments
The once-and-future Columbia plant in Bridgeport, CT, typeset the labels {Images #3439489 & 3439490}. Typefaces were 7 point No. 1 (matrix number) with Gothic No. 4 (the smaller sans-serif type) and 10 point Gothic Condensed No. 1. This appears to be right around the time the die-cut label size became ~3".

Clarence Williams' Blue Five - Black Snake Blues / Old Folks Shuffle
{Images #3448932 & 3448933} looks like a post-1931 pressing with older label stock. The deep groove dimensions here appear to be 2.6875" on the inner end and 2.8125" on the outer end, would I be correct? (If the pressing were 1927, the deep groove would've been smaller - 1.125" inner, 1.25" outer.)

James Brown - Ain't It Funky Now
As well . . . on the front cover {Image #3448875}, wasn't that James signaling to one of his band members that they'll be fined after the show for violating one of his many edicts? (Of the type that caused most of his band members to mutiny before a show in early 1970, leading him to hire on the spot a backing band which featured brothers "Bootsy" and "Catfish" Collins, and which he would brand "The J.B.'s."

Pete Seeger - American Folk Songs For Children
While originally recorded in 1953, this pressing looks almost '70's-ish; {Images #3444366 & 3444367} bears label type from Newark Phonolabels, Inc., a division of Folkraft, as on label copy prepared by them between 1968 and 1974. (The "FOLKWAYS RECORDS" was from Varityper Headliner Alternate Gothic No. 3, and the two lines below it were set in 10 point IBM Selectric Composer Univers Medium which had only existed since 1967-68.
