Hooker is backed by Eddie Kirkland on guitar, both whom provides stingin’ guitars. I love the effect the overdubbed vocals gives the song. The vocals were overdubbed twice, so what you hear is 3x Hooker! Pretty inventive for it’s time by producer Bernad Besman and sound engineer Joe Siracuse. Recorded in mid-August 1949 in Detroit, Besman leased the recording to Modern, and Modern owner Jules Bihari got a writing credit with pseudonym Jules Taub. The record spent four weeks as no.1 on Billboard rhythm and blues chart and reputedly sold a million copies.
