Ken Griffin - Walkin' To Missouri / You Belong To Me (1952)
A bit of tweaking to the A side label...

V.P. Vinogradov - The Mountain Ash / A Hawk Flew Into The Sky (1946)
I don't know why they added the a and the b after TRC 20. They only did this in the past to show that they were different sides from the previous issue of the same catalogue number, viz TRC 1 which had three different issues with different sides accompanying the B side which was "The Internationale".

Jack Elliott - The Streets Of Laredo / The Boll Weevil (1957)
As with other late issue Topic 78s, this was issued on 3 different labels. First one while Topic was still under the auspices of the WMA; second when Topic became independent from them financially with Topic showing as small text at top of label; and finally with the new blue label as the third issue.

Bob De Cormier And Pete Seeger - Dark As A Dungeon / Talking Union Blues (1956)
There were in fact 3 issues of this record. The first when in 1956 Topic was still under the auspices of the WMA - The Workers Music Association; the second when Topic became a record company in its own right; and the third when Topic Record Company issued the 78 on the new blue label. The first issue is the only issue with the glaring "Pete Seegar" typo...

The Bushwhackers - Drover's Dream / Bullockies' Ball (1956)
Strictly the group were "The Bushwhackers". Alan Scott was a member but he was not more of a star than anyone else particularly. See other 78rpm records on Wattle by "The Bushwhackers" and you will see they used the person who actually sang as the person in small print. But "The Who" were "The Who" whether it was Roger or Pete, or indeed John who was singing the song. Thus it was with "The Bushwhackers".

What a super note to put on this record, Felix. That is exactly what this website is all about! Priceless!

The Bushwhackers - Drover's Dream / Bullockies' Ball (1956)
Also available with plain yellow label.

This actually sold in pretty large numbers (more than 10,000) and was a big 78 hit for the Bushwhackers.

George Lewis And His New Orleans Music - Willie The Weeper / Mama Don't Allow It (1954)
Sometimes track on B side is known as "Mama Don't Allow" (see linked release on Tempo). It was also recorded by the City Ramblers Skiffle Group as "Mama Don't Allow" although when it was written, supposedly by Cow Cow Davenport, he called it "Mama Don't Allow It".

Paul Robeson - Joe Hill / John Brown's Body (1956)
I've been prepared to travel, haggle and bid. It's been my main focus for 20 years. If anyone has any other Topic 78s it would be great to get help in completing the collection. I work closely with Topic records and lent them many records for the 70th anniversary 7cd book set. I've also taken them into Cecil Sharp House and helped the EFDSS complete their digital collection. Every record fair I go to, I ask specifically for them. It's a fairly thankless task though. They are somewhat thin on the ground out there...

The Centenary Choir - Partisan Song / England Arise (1949)
A side was conducted by the founder of the WMA, Alan Bush.

Quite unusually, this is pressed on fairly flexible vinyl rather than the heavy-duty brittle shellac one might expect from the era in which it was pressed.
