Fokeman 20th Oct 2024 | | 78 RPMAl Stewart And His New Mexicans - Make Yourself A Happiness Pie / What Good Am I Without You ? (1931) | He was certainly recording for the same label at the same time.
Fokeman 10th Jun 2024 | | 78 RPMKanerien Bro-Leon Landivizio - Patronez Dous Ar Folgoad / Dalc'h Soñj (1953) | I think perhaps the image you uploaded was the image of a record I had already bought. It really is very quick to add a new record, if you have an image of a record that is not already in the database.
Fokeman 10th Jun 2024 | | 78 RPMKanerien Bro-Leon Landivizio - Patronez Dous Ar Folgoad / Dalc'h Soñj (1953) | How extraordinary! I wonder if we both have the same record?
Fokeman 10th Jun 2024 | | 78 RPMPearl Bailey And Hot Lips Page - It's A Great Feeling / The Huckle-Buck (1949) | Three other clues are the Swedish rights collection agency Inlagg, NCB on the label and the label being printed in Swedish text.
Fokeman 10th Jun 2024 | | 78 RPMZaïg Monjarret - Lavaromp Ar Chapeled / Ar Baradoz (1953) | Your edit still showed the A side (so two times the A side). Since I did the original edit, I still had the original in my folder so have been able to correct the error.
Sorry for all and any confusion caused...
It looks correct now to me. Is it ok for others or are there issues with cache?
Fokeman 8th Jun 2024 | | 78 RPMZaïg Monjarret - Lavaromp Ar Chapeled / Ar Baradoz (1953) | Chapeled or Chapelet is the Rosary. Obviously an error on the B side since Baradoz doesn't also mean a Rosary in Breton, but heaven or paradise.
Fokeman 8th Jun 2024 | | 78 RPMKanerien Bro-Leon Landivizio - Patronez Dous Ar Folgoad / Dalc'h Soñj (1953) | I have both sides so I can put these up tomorrow hopefully...
Fokeman 8th Jun 2024 | | 78 RPMZaïg Monjarret - Lavaromp Ar Chapeled / Ar Baradoz (1953) | Many thanks Han. Please try and show the whole of the label. Take it out of the paper sleeve before photoing, please. It's hard to recreate the missing part of the label.
Fokeman 8th Jun 2024 | | 78 RPMKevrenn C'hlazik - Marche De Cadoudal / Marche De La Kevrenn C'hlazik (1951) | Thanks Han, so we have 5 variants so far. Any more?
I've revisited all the dates of the 78s and I think that they are all correct now. Which one do you think may be wrong?
Fokeman 7th Jun 2024 | | 78 RPMLouis Ropars And Fanch Bodivit - Gavotte De Fouesnant / Bal Sud Cornouaille (1951) | This label is almost certainly not the original issue. It probably came out first on a solid colour red/orange label.
Fokeman 7th Jun 2024 | | 78 RPMKevrenn C'hlazik - Marche De Cadoudal / Marche De La Kevrenn C'hlazik (1951) | Just found a blue label copy of this one. I've never seen another blue label on Mouez Breiz. It was probably between the red and the white label and the pattern used was repeated on the white label in almost every detail.
Fokeman 18th Apr 2024 | | 78 RPMJack Byfield - Saltarello / Saltarello (1951) | This is probably simply a "home recording" from the radio. The 1950s equivalent of home taping. The B side label probably never did exist.
Fokeman 6th Mar 2024 | | 78 RPMConnie Foley - The Town Of Galway / The Wild Colonial Boy (1951) | This was also at some time either later or earlier available on the white Copley label.
Fokeman 26th Feb 2024 | | 78 RPMSean Ryan - Ave Maria / The Holy Child | Here, Sean Ryan is a tenor. Elsewhere, Sean Ryan is an Irish fiddle player.
Fokeman 6th Feb 2024 | | 78 RPMElton Hayes - All Round My Hat / The Unquiet Grave (1953) | Traditional is a composer. Or at least if we know it is traditional it is what we put in the composer credit field. We also put Traditional, Arr. Name if we know the name of the arranger of traditional material.
Fokeman 5th Feb 2024 | | 78 RPMThe Irish All Stars - Miss Mc Leod's Reel / The Irish Washerwoman (1952) | I think they were all made as unbreakable discs at this time. They are 78rpm discs but late and made with a fairly brittle vinyl, not shellac.
Fokeman 25th Dec 2023 | | 78 RPMJohn Feeney - Shawl Of Galway Grey / If There'd Never Been An Ireland (1953) | I'm not quite sure of the medium used in these records. I suspect that they are cut on acetates which means that they smell different. They are also less brittle than standard shellac but not quite as bendy as vinyl.
Fokeman 22nd Dec 2023 | | 78 RPMDorothy McManus - Three Lovely Lassies In Bannion / Three Flowers (1951) | [YouTube Video]
Fokeman 22nd Oct 2023 | | 78 RPMLéo Poll - Ne Tirez Pas Sur Le Pianiste / Souviens-Toi (1931) | [YouTube Video]
Fokeman 22nd Oct 2023 | | 78 RPMLéo Poll - Ne Tirez Pas Sur Le Pianiste / Souviens-Toi (1931) | Father of Michel Polnareff who kept the family name despite his father changing it for his own career. His real name was Leib Polnareff.
Fokeman 19th Feb 2023 | | 78 RPMWilliam Starr - Set Of Jigs: Intro / Kenmuirs On An Awa' / Peter Baillie's Wife / Teviot Bridge / Set Of Irish Hornpipes: Intro / The Wonder / The Trumpet Hornpipe / The Locomotive Hornpipe (1951) | Perfect, thanks for that Wes. We'll call it 1951 then.
Fokeman 19th Feb 2023 | | 78 RPMWilliam Starr - Set Of Jigs: Intro / Kenmuirs On An Awa' / Peter Baillie's Wife / Teviot Bridge / Set Of Irish Hornpipes: Intro / The Wonder / The Trumpet Hornpipe / The Locomotive Hornpipe (1951) | Circa 1952 / 1953
Fokeman 26th Nov 2022 | | 78 RPMArmand Haas - Angelus Pour Le Temps De Paques / Va Zi Bihan (Ma Petite Maison) (1952) | Compare this lettering with the lettering used on 78s produced by Le Chant Du Monde who were working with Mouez Breiz at this stage.
This particular record is good for seeing the similarities in print.
Fokeman 8th May 2022 | | 78 RPMBuster Larsen - På Bustur Med Buster (Ej -Sikkelikkelej) / Du Skal Aldrig Kysse Andre (1957) | [YouTube Video]
Fokeman 25th Apr 2022 | | 78 RPMPaddy Ryan - The Man That Waters The Workers' Beer / The Internationale (1939) | The record cannot date from before 1939 since this was first published only in 1939 when the music was printed by the Workers Music Association. It may have been within months that the record was issued.
The tune is traditional and was arranged by Alfred Roberts but the words are by the Unity Theatre actor, Paddy Ryan.

Fokeman 7th Jun 2021 | | 78 RPMF. Lemarque - A Paris / Buy My A Zeppelin | [YouTube Video]
Fokeman 2nd Apr 2021 | | 78 RPMClaude Luter - Ory's Creole Trombone / Sport Model Mama (1949) | That's great. Thanks Mike.
Fokeman 2nd Apr 2021 | | 78 RPMClaude Luter - Ory's Creole Trombone / Sport Model Mama (1949) | Can anyone date this more accurately to either the month in 1948 or very early 1949?
Fokeman 11th Feb 2021 | | 78 RPMRichard Himber - The Kiss Polka / I Know Why (And So Do You) (1941) | Both labels please Roland. We aim to have both sides for every record. Many thanks...
Fokeman 8th May 2020 | | 78 RPMMcKinley Morganfield - I Be's Troubled / Country Blues (1942) | Great! On that basis the release date is 1942 and we can put the recording details in the notes.
