LaurenceD SUBS 22nd Jun 2021 | | 78 RPMFred Bergin - The Doggie In The Window / Waltz Serenade | Probably released in 1953, as both "Doggie In The Window" and Riccardo Drigo's "Serenade" were popular right around that time.
LaurenceD SUBS 22nd Jun 2021 | | 78 RPMArtur Balsam And Members Of The Guilet Quartet - Excerpt From Piano Quartet Opus 2 / Excerpt From Serenade No. 1, D Major, Opus 11 | Side 2 ends with a spoken comment about these sample excerpts and Concert Hall recordings in general.
LaurenceD SUBS 27th May 2021 | | 78 RPMBill Pannell - I'm Goin' Back To Dayton / Empty Dreams (1948) | "Allen King" appears to be a variant spelling of Allan King, who was a frequent vocalist for Bill Pannell.
My copy is pressed on an ochre-colored material, which I presume is Memolite, introduced by Memo in 1948, so I have set the release year accordingly, given no other information about this issue.
LaurenceD SUBS 28th Apr 2021 | | 78 RPMThe Modernists - I'm Getting Sentimental Over You / Solitude (1934) | Both sides also released on Perfect, Oriole, Banner, Romeo.
LaurenceD SUBS 30th Mar 2021 | | 78 RPMPaul Douglas - The Face On The Barroom Floor / Down In The Lehigh Valley (1946) | Paul Douglas recorded these sides prior to his Hollywood film career, but he had already experienced success as an actor on Broadway in "Born Yesterday" in early 1946.
Up until then he was mainly known as a radio & sports announcer.

LaurenceD SUBS 28th Mar 2021 | | 78 RPMLionel Hampton - Wizzin' The Wizz / Denison Swing (1939) | Hampton plays piano on both sides. On the A side, he plays the keys just like he plays the vibes:

LaurenceD SUBS 27th Feb 2021 | | 78 RPM[no artist listed] - The Girl From Atlantic City / Her First Swimming Lesson | The b-side is a recording by female impersonator Ray Bourbon, originally released on Western Record Co. Bourbana WR-717.
This Good-Humor label seems to have specialized in pirated copies of adult comedy recordings, omitting the original performer credits. Note the matrix numbers on the releases. I would like to be able to cross-reference some more of these Good-Humor releases... David Diehl's "Blue Pages" site at hensteeth.com has much useful information, but unfortunately seems to be no longer available. I wonder if there is an archived copy.

LaurenceD SUBS 27th Feb 2021 | | 78 RPMBilly Mitchell - Rubbin' / Johnny's Hot Rod (1949) | Anybody know why Dootsie Williams' Blue label released certain items on this Blu variant? Have not found any info so far...
LaurenceD SUBS 13th Feb 2021 | | 78 RPM白虹 (Bai Hong) - 寻梦曲 / 你是天風 (1945) | Still working out the composer credits...
I listed the b-side title as written, with the traditional '風', though most modern references use the simplfied '风' resulting in "你是天风".
LaurenceD SUBS 10th Feb 2021 | | 78 RPMArt Mace - The Prisoner's Song / I Want Your Love (1926) | Same song pairing as Sunset 1165 by Charles Beauchamp
LaurenceD SUBS 5th Feb 2021 | | 78 RPMEfrem Zimbalist - Old Black Joe / Massa's In De Cold, Cold Ground (1923) | Not sure about that release date; it was listed in the Victor Red Seal Records 1923 catalogue.
LaurenceD SUBS 21st Jan 2021 | | 78 RPMBlanka - Just One Of Those Things / Easy To Love (1946) | I believe that this singer is Blanka Perić, who is featured on various RCA Victor recordings in the late 1940s and early 1950s. She had performed in Europe before the war.
LaurenceD SUBS 12th Jan 2021 | | 78 RPMCount Basie - Time On My Hands / For The Good Of The Country (1943) | Added scan for b-side label titled "For The Good Of Your Country"; also note the "Basie" composer credit. The a-side label is identical to image 1097884.
LaurenceD SUBS 12th Jan 2021 | | 78 RPMBix Beiderbecke - Bix And Tram (1947) | The Billboard reviewer described the caricatures on the cover as "bizarre and unbefitting"
LaurenceD SUBS 12th Jan 2021 | | 78 RPMBix Beiderbecke - Jazz As It Should Be Played (1940) | Added variant label images for discs 1-3; my disc 4 labels are identical to images { 1560371, 1560372 }. My cover has some differences as well: the binding is black rather than red; and there is no advert on the inside rear cover.
I read George Avakian's remarks in the liner notes regarding "Sweet Sue" about the transfer from its original 12-inch release (Columbia 50103-D); He states that the intro was dropped for this pressing, but it sounds like the whole track to me - I timed it at ~ 4:30

Marv Goldberg's 4 Deuces page indicates that "Mr. Undertaker" is a pseudonym for Roy Hawkins.
