Gray Gordon - Off To See The Wizard Of Oz / If I Only Had A Brain (1941)
There's the French title of the film on the label, which is strange, because "TWOO" wasn't released here until after the war. I know nothing about that Gordon Gray outfit (British ?). I hope side A's title's correct regarding the original issue, because it's really "We're Off To See The Wizard", as you all know.

Phonedibel was a Belgian company and the record may be Belgian too, I'm not sure.

Joan Weber - Let Me Go Lover / Marionette (1955)
Because it was to be played with the stylus on the 'green' position, I learned that here :o)

Slim Gaillard And Bam Brown - Opera In Vout (Groove Juice Symphony) (1946)
I didn't notice it before, but there is at the bottom of my two latest added labels a mention "European Edition", instead of "Made in USA". So, is it necessary to have a new "Export Issue" entry ? The album's cover is slightly different, too. There are two red corners on the left side (top and bottom, same color as the spine). I can do a partial scan if you want, showing just that.

David Rose - Dance Of The Spanish Onion / Holiday For Strings (1946)
Ah ah ! Of course, "Holiday For Strings" was also a golden opportunity for Spike Jones. And, as recorded by David Rose for RCA Victor, it was the first use of the electronic echo chamber.

Gilbert Bécaud - Les Enfants Oubliés / Passe Ton Chemin (1954)
And I could add that "Les enfants oubliés" became a Christmas classic in Québec, contrary to France where it was quickly forgotten. Céline Dion has recorded it, among numerous other singers.

I added that information because there was an early English adaptation of that Bécaud/ Delanoë song which was recorded in 1955 by Sammy Davis, Jr. I know it's against your policy (stick to the label), I plead guilty. Today I added a Greek 78 by Tony Brent singing "With Your Love" which is an adaptation of "Mes mains" and I didn't add that French title... So you see, Judge, I'm not a hopeless case !

Chiquet de Betora y E. Payá - El U Y Dos / El U Y Dos (1928)
I can't tell the difference between artist names and song titles. It's music from Valencia, recorded in 1928, apparently:

OK, getalife, now we're getting some place.

I will, in the future, leave more space around the label, here and on 45cat too, as you wish, that's real easy.

I uploaded the eBay image just to show that there was a difference of color between the area next to Nipper and the rest. But, since it was taken with a digital camera, it is not to be trusted. I've seen wild changes of colors on eBay in the past.

That being said, I still think that, in most cases, the screens where I check the results of my scanning are rather faithful. There are three of them, 2 CRTs and one flat screen. And I would be glad to verify that with a shade chart if I had one. Anyway, I'll leave a note for you mods when I'm not reasonably satisfied with what I've scanned.

Don't bother with credits, getalife, as long as we agree on the images, its all right and I thank you.

and sorry for the awful blue stickers; in the old days I put red stickers on stereo records and blue stickers on 78rpm, to help me remember to use the good stylus...

Getalife, I appreciate the huge amount of work you're doing, so don't get me wrong. I took nothing personnally, I was just discussing facts. And I was giving you a little info about my own material problems. As I said before, I can't use paintnet, because my eMac won't accept it, that's the way it is. You can be as blunt as you like, I can take it :o)

Now, there's something I don't understand in your reasoning: you said that you changed "my" colors because of the way "your" HMV's looked. My turn to be blunt: I think it's a bad idea to refer to other countries, and to other labels for comparison. I said yesterday that images 4542/3 were OK by me, but you added image 4638. Why ? Because you think it's prettier ? I realize that 'my fate is in your hands', as the song goes, and that you have all the power. So do what you want with those pictures, without my agreement.

Regarding cropping, sometimes I can't see on my screen where is the border between label and 'wax'. So 'before you abuse, criticize and accuse, walk a mile in my shoes': that was just another song, not a way of having a go at you, because I'm sure you're a good guy.

Images 4542/3 are correct, they are faithful in tone and color to the record itself.
Please delete 4539, which was the only picture (from eBay !) I had at hand yesterday. My own pictures were on an external drive. Thanks.

Gilbert Bécaud - Je Veux Te Dire Adieu / Que Toi (1955)
Images 4540/1 are correct, they look like the ones I scanned originally. And what I scanned was faithful to the labels themselves, which have a somewhat 'dull' aspect, with some little black stains on 'B' .

@getalife: usually my scanner does justice to colors and tones, and I don't adjust the images afterwards. In a few occurences, I had to increase contrast or light for the sole reason that the original label wasn't readable at all (faded gold letters on a pale green background, for instance).
So, I don't feel the need for attesting each and every time that my uploads are correct: I'm doing the best I can considering the hardware I'm working with. But you can always ask me for additional explanations if you have a doubt.
