Henry Hill - If You Love Me / What's The Matter Mama (1951)
Thanks guys. Fixbutte - interesting to know that Latricia Walker was Phyllis Otis. I can add too that Gladyces (with an acute accent over the "e") Carter De Jesus was born in 1911 and was copyrighting songs as early as 1945. Copyrights were still being filed in her name as late as the 1980s. She was affiliated with at least 15 publishing imprints and there were also songs filed by her with various collaborators without benefit of publishers. Keith, she had several songs in the late fifties filed by Chico (or Chico's) Music Co and at least one of them found it's way to Juggy Murray at Sue. And interestingly I have 1958 and 1968 listings that place Chico's Music Co. at 309 West 100th Street, NYC, c/o Gladyces De Jesus! In 1957 (and perhaps earlier) Chico's was at 156 West 42nd Street.

Jesse Powell Orchestra With Fluffy Hunter - The Walkin' Blues (Walk Right In, Walk Right Out) / Love Is A Fortune (1952)
Posted Cash Box review which is quite revealing. This particular record was one of a number of risque R&B songs of the time that seemed to have longish shelf lives without making it to any chart listings. Corny by today's standards but very unlikely to get airplay in 1952, yet Cash Box still gave it a very favourable review - the point being that Cash Box at that time was still primarily geared to the juke box trade and indeed a substantial part of the weekly publication was devoted to the coin machine industry. I can imagine smirking patrons dropping their nickels and dimes into boxes in bars and taverns to hear this one.

The Florida Soul Stirrers - Holy Father / Father Alone (1951)
Both sides rec. 6Jun51, NYC.

Copyrights on gospel songs seem to often be up for grabs and authorship disputed. I'm not sure what happened here. Both sides are attributed to Armo Music (King/Federal affiliate) on the labels wth composers Anderson & Warren but neither song was copyrighted by Armo in 1951. In February 1952, Father Alone was copyrighted by Lois Music (King's flagship publishing imprint) and attributed to Purcell Perkins:

It was at this point that Syd Nathan, for whatever reason, decided to start using the "published" option (prefix EP) instead of the "unpublished" option (prefix EU) when filing copyrights and for the rest of the 1950s and through the '60s the thousands of copyrights filed by Nathan's many publishing imprints were listed as published. King was unusual in this respect as, at least in the 1950s, other publishers tended to use the EP prefix only for sheet music.

Joe Bailey - I Can't Stop Loving You / Would You Like To Know About Heaven (1951)
Both tracks rec. 14Feb51, NYC with an ensemble led by Al Cobbs. I'm curious about who owned Rage Music Corp. (BMI). It seems to have been exclusive to Gladyces DeJesus' output and I'm guessing it was another of Syd Nathan's numerous publishing imprints, but there was a Rage Music (BMI) in Los Angeles in the mid '50s possibly connected to George Motola, that may or may not be the same.
