SeverlyWarpedRecord 18th Jul 2024 | | 78 RPMBilly Daniels - That Ol' Black Magic / I Concentrate On You (1951) | Sounds like elvis trying to sing frankie laine
SeverlyWarpedRecord 6th Jul 2024 | | 78 RPMJack And Betty - This Is My Story / Satisfied Mind (1955) | Is this the original version of the 4 seasons cover?
SeverlyWarpedRecord 29th Mar 2024 | | 78 RPMGlenn Miller - I Know Why / Chattanooga Choo Choo (1941) | $35 for this record? That's alot to ride on the Chattanooga Choo choo
SeverlyWarpedRecord 27th Mar 2024 | | 78 RPMCab Calloway - Minnie The Moocher / I'll Get By (1953) | Oh yeah sorry about that guys, I meant the okeh recording. My canadian is showing, all okehs were pressed on columbia up here.
Also I thought the vocalion record was a unique recording? Maybe the one I thought was it is actually this bell record
SeverlyWarpedRecord 26th Mar 2024 | | 78 RPMCab Calloway - Minnie The Moocher / I'll Get By (1953) | Is this record a unique recording of minnie the moocher or is it one of the 3 previous recordings (brunswick, vocalion, and columbia)?
SeverlyWarpedRecord 15th Mar 2024 | | 78 RPMWoody Herman - Boulevard Of Memories / Civilization (Bongo, Bongo, Bongo) (1948) | I think civilization was the hit side
SeverlyWarpedRecord 4th Mar 2024 | | 78 RPMInk Spots - If I Didn't Care / Whispering Grass (Don't Tell The Trees) (1946) | Has anyone ever seen the original Canadian press of this? I feel like this was one of those records that only became a bestseller over time
SeverlyWarpedRecord 13th Feb 2024 | | 78 RPMJack Scott - Baby She's Gone / You Can Bet Your Bottom Dollar (1957) | This is a rare one even on 45
SeverlyWarpedRecord 6th Feb 2024 | | 78 RPMElton Hayes - All Round My Hat / The Unquiet Grave (1953) | Anybody know them this was released? I looked online and couldn't find anything. The labels the regular dark red HMV label, my phones cameras just making it look lighter for some reason
SeverlyWarpedRecord 27th Nov 2023 | | 78 RPMBenny Goodman Sextet - Benny Goodman Sextet Session (1946) | First presses would be gold. The original owner probably broke one and replaced it
SeverlyWarpedRecord 2nd Nov 2023 | | 78 RPMBill Kenny (Mr. Ink Spot) - Now You Say You Care / Now You Say You Care (1956) | I’m convinced Vik was the label that RCA put all the records they didnt think were promising. Every record I find on this label is either by a washed up singer or something weird
SeverlyWarpedRecord 9th Sep 2023 | | 78 RPMInk Spots - Who Do You Know In Heaven (That Made You The Angel You Are?) / You're Breaking My Heart (1949) | This was probably their last top 40 record
SeverlyWarpedRecord 29th Aug 2023 | | 78 RPMFrancis Craig - Red Rose / Near You | Was this actually pressed up here?
SeverlyWarpedRecord 17th Jul 2023 | | 78 RPMInk Spots - If / A Friend Of Johnny's (1951) | Was this the OG ink spots last record? I’ve never seen anything later than this one
SeverlyWarpedRecord 16th Jul 2023 | | 78 RPMVernon Dalhart - The Prisoner's Song / Wreck Of The 97 (1926) | Added an earlier pressing of the A side.
It’s weird how on my copy on Victor the prisoners song is the B side. That probably means that apex only pressed this record after the prisoners song took off on whatever radio stations were going in 1925
SeverlyWarpedRecord 16th Jul 2023 | | 78 RPMInk Spots - That's Where I Came In / You Can't See The Sun When You're Crying (1947) | I respect the inclusion
SeverlyWarpedRecord 16th Jul 2023 | | 78 RPMLarry Cross - It Can't Be Wrong / My Dream Of To-morrow (1943) | Now Voyager is a Bette Davis movie from 1942, so if I had to guess I’d say this record came out in 1942-43, but I could be wrong
SeverlyWarpedRecord 16th Jul 2023 | | 78 RPMEvelyn Knight And The Stardusters - A Little Bird Told Me / Brush Those Tears From Your Eyes (1948) | Better picture of the label added :)
SeverlyWarpedRecord 16th Jul 2023 | | 78 RPMInk Spots - That's Where I Came In / You Can't See The Sun When You're Crying (1947) | Yeah I agree that this was a pop record in the 40s, but you gotta remember that back then jazz was pop music.
Just personally I’ve never liked how older musicians are labeled as just pop, because no matter what pop music always has a genre to go along with it, because what’s popular always changes
SeverlyWarpedRecord 15th Jul 2023 | | 78 RPMInk Spots - That's Where I Came In / You Can't See The Sun When You're Crying (1947) | What makes a song ‘jazz’? Because the ink spots are definitely a jazz band, but someone changed the genres to just be pop
SeverlyWarpedRecord 7th Jul 2023 | | 78 RPMLita Roza - Hey There / Hernando's Hideaway (1955) | These British covers really weren’t even trying to sound different. This records almost identical to Rosemary Clooney’s, the only difference is that clooney was a better singer
SeverlyWarpedRecord 6th Jul 2023 | | 78 RPMGeorgia Gibbs - Dance With Me Henry (Wallflower) / Every Road Must Have A Turning (1955) | This version is more common
SeverlyWarpedRecord 6th Jul 2023 | | 78 RPMBing Crosby - The Day You Came Along / I Guess It Had To Be That Way (1933) | Thanks for uploading the pics. It’s interesting how Brunswick switched to a blue label before they abandoned Canada.
Also am I the only one who’s noticed that stuff that sold well in America didn’t actually sell well in Canada? I know that Crosby definitely got airplay in Canada during the early 30s, but for some reason you never see his records here
SeverlyWarpedRecord 3rd Jul 2023 | | 78 RPMThe King Cole Trio - Capitol Presents The King Cole Trio (1944) | This was the first number 1 album ever. Parts 2 and 3 were also number 1 when they were released in the following years
SeverlyWarpedRecord 1st Jul 2023 | | 78 RPMBing Crosby - The Day You Came Along / I Guess It Had To Be That Way (1933) | Can someone upload a picture of this record? I haven’t ever seen a Canadian issue of Crosby’s Brunswick records
SeverlyWarpedRecord 1st Jul 2023 | | 78 RPMBing Crosby - Going My Way / Swinging On A Star (1944) | This was by far Crosby’s biggest pop hit in Canada
SeverlyWarpedRecord 23rd May 2023 | | 78 RPMCliff Richard And The Drifters - Living Doll / Apron Strings (1959) | Yeah I know that, but what would it sound like if you did play it on a gramophone?
SeverlyWarpedRecord 22nd May 2023 | | 78 RPMCliff Richard And The Drifters - Living Doll / Apron Strings (1959) | Would this record even play on a gramophone? I heard that basses were known to make gramophones skip so they never used them in older jazz, but this record would be on a new level with the electric bass intro
SeverlyWarpedRecord 17th Feb 2023 | | 78 RPMPerry Como - I Dream Of You (More Than You Dream I Do) / I'm Confessin' (That I Love You) (1945) | 3 owners but 0 images? Must be a classic ????
SeverlyWarpedRecord 11th Feb 2023 | | 78 RPMJoe Bari And Pat Easton - Vieni Qui (Come To Me) / Fascinating Rhythm (1949) | Tony Bennett was on mtv?
