Whyperion SUBS 9th Feb 2013 | | 78 RPMPeggy Lee - Don't Smoke In Bed / It Takes A Long Long Train With A Red Caboose (To Carry My Blues Away) (1949) | Getting Close to the Longest B Side Title in the 1950s , At age 6 when I played most of the collection of mum's I did not really appreciate these tracks , and despite watching westerns I did not understand what a Caboose was ( PMV/Brake Coach for luggage in UK railway terms ). Again tracks overlooked in the 60s and 90s on LP and CD compilations , only slowly coming back to a wider audience.

Whyperion SUBS 8th Feb 2013 | | 78 RPMFrank Sinatra - I Begged Her / I Fall In Love Too Easily (1945) | My Columbia one of course has the dots.
D.B. 2197
I've found an example of the sleeve my copy has been in since 1974 (well, I might have had "Putting on the Ritz" in it at some time instead).
Since the invention of the internet I have found it's for the 1940 Olympic Games that were due to be held in Helsinki, and presumably would have been printed around 1937/1938? But why 'New Process' as that seems to indicate earlier in the 1930s? My own sleeve has split side and bottom which I have taped up with sellotape.
|
Whyperion SUBS 8th Feb 2013 | | 78 RPMBing Crosby - Once In A Blue Moon / Give Me A Heart To Sing To (1941) | [YouTube Video]
When was the last time this movie was on mainstream digi TV ?
Film from 1934 but not credited on label, film tempo a little slower than the record.
And this CD version is not quite this Columbia track either ! [YouTube Video] so I have never 'tracked down' this elsewhere. I have it done on tape.
[YouTube Video] frequency range on the CD seems better than the best I could get out of the 78 many years ago, but again a track that until very recently had been overlooked.
