 I'm not xiphophilos, but I'll try to answer your question. Russell's discography doesn't say who provided the dog effects. But since Gid Tanner was the only other musician present when this was recorded, and based on the fact that he provided animal effects on some of the later Skillet Lickers recordings, it was probably him.

 Xiphopilos, would you have any idea of who performed the dog imitations on this recording ? Could it possibly be Gid Tanner ?

 Ron, your Viva-Tonal style label without the words "Viva-tonal Recording", with one line of registration text under the logo on top and two patent dates (Jan. 21, '13 and May 22, '23) at the bottom, represents a repress from early 1926, cf. M. Sherman & K. Nauck, "Note the Notes," page 31.
