I found a telling ad of the new Aladdin label in the Billboard of Mar 23, 1946, inviting the dealers to "Order Your Philo Hits From Aladdin Recordings", namely the hits of Johnny Moore's Three Blazer Blazers, and I attached it here.
"Drifting Blues" was one of the biggest selling 'race records' of 1946, though it only peaked at #2 of Billboard's Most Played Juke Box Race Records charts (the forerunner of the R&B charts). First issued on Philo Records (P112) in November 1945, it made the very short 'race' charts in Feb 1946, staying there for 23 weeks. In March 1946, when the Philo owners were forced to change the label name because of the similarity to radio manufacturer Philco, it was one of the first records to be reissued on the new Aladdin label, now with cat# A112. It was reissued again in mid-1946 in the 'Jazz Series' with updated red label and cat# just 112, and again with a blue label (same cat#) in 1948 or later. In 1951, it was still such a good seller that it was issued on a 7" 45 rpm record (cat# 45-112).
