There are several mentions of this record in books and articles. Paul Swinton, in his article "A Twist Of Lemon", speculates that the recording was possibly not made in October 1929, as listed in Dixon/Godrich/Rye's Blues And Gospel Records, but "it is much more likely to have happened shortly before its advertised release on 22nd February 1930" - that means after Blind Lemon Jefferson's death on December 19, 1929.

Actually there was an earlier all-star meeting on the Vocalion label, when Jim Jackson, Tampa Red, Georgia Tom and Speckled Red recorded the two-part "Jim Jackson's Jamboree" on October 14, 1929. The record (Vocalion 1428) was announced for release in November 1929, see here.

This is a great sampler of Paramount's foremost artists at the time. The only one listed on the label but not actually present is Blind Lemon Jefferson.
